The 428 and 429 were two completely different motors, one was made by ford motor company, and one was made by General Motors, The GTO was a full frame car, the Mustang was a half frame unibody setup type chassis. @Mustang4lyfe91 and i know this because i own a 91 EF civic hatch with a k20 swap which i got for 2k (brand new)...AEM intake (250), full hks exhaust to the cat (800), and then added a bolt on turbo which i have set to 14 psi (900) and my civic runs low 11's... which isnt bad considering i spent a fraction of the money this guy put in his mustang.
@JayC376 You can get a mustang turbo kit for under $2000 dollars. Injectors are like what $400? A built 4.6 would run around what $4000 dollars in total if you did the work yourself you wouldn't pay labor. It all depends where you get your work done and who does it. A 5.0 you dont need to build, really just hope its on the newer side and doesnt burn oil yet.

@roush158 Cheap? a 2005 Mustang goes for the same price as a same model year Civic Si. The reason i chose the Si is because I also chose a higher end Mustang on Edmunds.com. They were both appraised for near 10K on both KBB and Edmunds, so the civic isn't any cheaper than the Mustang. Granted, of the models shown, the civic is cheaper, but not by much.

If you take a stock car and a turbo car that push the same hp and tq, have the same gearing, etc then it will come down to a drivers race. The turbo car doesn't necessarily have an advantage. @StandardRacing you also have to look at how many cylinders there are. i dont know how in depth you know about cars and engines but i am gonna say this. the more cylinders an engine has the more power events it gets which means a little better acceleration. take a 4 cylinder, for every revolution of the crank you will 4 power events, and in a v8 you get 8 power events for every revolution which means the car gets more power for every crankshaft revolution

The GT300 got trounced by the STi in EVERY measure of performance, the only difference between the GT300 and GT500 is the power and gearing, and at that the GT500 just BARELY beat out the STi in acceleration. So yes, the STi beats the Mustang at its own game.
Well first off the guy has a fox body mustang those cars only weigh about 2800lbs in full trim. It wouldn't take some ungodly drag motor to get that car in the 9's. I've seen streetlegal fox's running in the 8-9 second range and they were driven to the track. On this website theres a vid of a guy who drove a white fox body mustang to the track and it ran mid-high 8's on drag radials.

@roush158 Cheap? a 2005 Mustang goes for the same price as a same model year Civic Si. The reason i chose the Si is because I also chose a higher end Mustang on Edmunds.com. They were both appraised for near 10K on both KBB and Edmunds, so the civic isn't any cheaper than the Mustang. Granted, of the models shown, the civic is cheaper, but not by much.

If you take a stock car and a turbo car that push the same hp and tq, have the same gearing, etc then it will come down to a drivers race. The turbo car doesn't necessarily have an advantage. @StandardRacing you also have to look at how many cylinders there are. i dont know how in depth you know about cars and engines but i am gonna say this. the more cylinders an engine has the more power events it gets which means a little better acceleration. take a 4 cylinder, for every revolution of the crank you will 4 power events, and in a v8 you get 8 power events for every revolution which means the car gets more power for every crankshaft revolution

The GT300 got trounced by the STi in EVERY measure of performance, the only difference between the GT300 and GT500 is the power and gearing, and at that the GT500 just BARELY beat out the STi in acceleration. So yes, the STi beats the Mustang at its own game.

Well first off the guy has a fox body mustang those cars only weigh about 2800lbs in full trim. It wouldn't take some ungodly drag motor to get that car in the 9's. I've seen streetlegal fox's running in the 8-9 second range and they were driven to the track. On this website theres a vid of a guy who drove a white fox body mustang to the track and it ran mid-high 8's on drag radials.
