When people asked me what I thought of Steven Tyler being on american idol, even though I don't watch or think much of the show, I honestly responded with a similar comment. They've had all these singers judging who are just that, singers. Steven plays many different instruments and has such a range, why not him? He's representing my favorite music on a show that needs it.

I had similar things when I was a child-parents divorced when I was 1 yr old, mom had full custody, dad never came around, mom ran off to California(it was the 60's and, like your mom, she was "livin' the life" because she was young too)left us with grandparents, long story short, she married when I was 3 because she was pregnant, he abused us every way possible, she pretended not to know, I spent my adult life analysing, remembering, forgiving, like you, I'm ok now..looong road..
