they are making the fighter 2, and it is based on the trilogy vs gatti :) let's just hope they do gatti proud if it's based on the perspective of ward! Both fighters deserve world wide recognision for these fights, inside and outside of the boxing community! People who don't follow boxing but like good films, i hope... Will watch the fighter 2, then watch the real fights... & their human instinct & love of human spirit should make them love those fights regardless of being into boxing
All i know is, that moment after the 2 of the pummel eachother so brutally that it made me cringe for both of them...and they immediately hugged w/ their blood leaking everywhere, was the 1st time i've ever shed tears from a boxing match...it was just beautiful. It was more poetic than violent.
Both of them should be considered heroes, they rose up from their depressing childhood...and basically poured their anger out on one another..then showed their respect.
Real champions are judged on how they admit defeat. Mickey has the heart of a champion, he just wasn't given the opportunities during his true prime is all.
Ward is such a Gentleman...Thanks for speaking so honestly about a personal friend of mine, Arturo Gatti. Rest In Peace Bro, catch you on the flip-side.
R.I.P Gatti.. But in all honesty people only say " oh he was a great champion and he will go down in history as one of the best champions of all time" because hes dead.. I think as a boxer he was shitty, he was just tough as nails and had a heart of a lion but his boxing skills werent great at all.
@TheeNameIsBrandon You're right in saying that Gatti wasn't one of the best champions of all time. He was a good fighter, but never a great one (he lost whenever he faced the best). What made him good was his heart & toughness when going toe to toe. He would take your best & not go anywhere. But he did have some skills, if you take notice in the early rounds of his fights. But at heart he was a warrior, & when he got hurt he would go back to brawling.
@TheeNameIsBrandon Well, his skills weren't shitty. Just not as good as some top boxers. He had that huge heart and it was a true joy to watch him fight. I would say more like average on the boxing skills instead of shitty.
Arturo & Ward were the best of friends after the third fight. I know both of them personally . Ward is a passionate sweet man. Arturo had the biggest heart Ive ever seen. Boxing was his life. Outside of the ring he was as gentle as they come. We had some of the most amazing times together...Ill never forget u...I love u always WARRIOR
seems like they didnt have much going on personally, they had an electric relationship between each other in the ring. It was madness when i heard about Gatti the other day, always one of my favourites, so shit he had to go this way. Gospeed Gatti
yah man they were yah right, Mickey invited Gatti to come out to Lowell to watch some of the movie getting shot. Even when MIckey retired Gatti invited MIckey to his camp to be his training/sparring partner for his upcoming fight. They were very close. Not just aquintences (they were boys)
they should make "The Fighter 2" and make it about the three ward/gatti fights. def three of the best fights in boxing history.
