@nenky I noticed that too, lot of these bikes will do around 100 mph in 1st, so it's understandable. Don't do that much or often on my own ZX-9R, that's for sure, certainly not when taking corners. LOL :-)

@Sandberg1972 Most of these 1000 cc bikes like lift up on you, almost impossible to keep down when you are at full throttle, so they usually stretch out 1st gear so it can be managable , and not so intimidating... That's why 1st gear is usually long ,then they leave 2nd 3rd 4th 5th , and 6th just about 25-30 mph apart.

@JohnFox1336 also due to the straights being so long the bikes are geared in such a way as to stop them bouncing off the limiter half way down, another reason is when the bike hits the bumps the rear wheel lifts off the ground, again causing the bike to bounce off the limiter, if they weren't geared to this extent as soon as you went airborne and landed theres no "give in the engine" so you would slow down, think of driving a car in third and then putting it into first, the car slows way down.
