  • wonderful how they work, wish I could have one of those djembes!

  • @davearias You can! Visit our website!

  • Wow, It is really beautiful watching the teamwork put into one drum. I have been working on one as a gift to my brother for 3 months and am not even close to being done. Can you tell me what the name of the tool used at 0:49 sec and 1:12 min? THX :)

  • @jhenry291 The tool at 0.49 is just a machete. The other tool... I don't know what they are called in Ghana, but woodcarvers here in the US call them "crooked knives." There ware some smaller versions available from Sweeden at a reasonable price.

Takes a village to make a djembe.

  • talented people,,,i wish more carving on it

  • Can you tell me where i can get the tools they use in the video? I've looked everywhere in Canada and the USA. Thx!

  • I would have thought to have used hot coals to burn the hole through the drum, then come back with chisel in hand to carve the rest of it.

  • Absolutely AMAZING how you can make a Djembe without electric tools!!

    Congratulations!!! :-)

  • These boys do a great job

  • Beatuiful tradition!

  • i was in ghana and bought one for $50...pretty cheap for all the work that goes into them

  • wow, your putting alot of work in that instrument, all my respect

  • i enjoyed that clip can you tell me is there any one in n.ireland who can tune reskin djembes

  • We don't have any one in Ireland that we could recommend. We do have some tuning tutorials on our site, as well as a DVD that teaches you how to re-head a djembe. Thanks!

  • The woman, (Her name is Efi), is applying a mixture of shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax.

    Thanks!

  • Great stuff. No wonder djembes are so expensive--what a lot of work!

  • Not from Ghana, there are cheap djembes because, djembes don't come from ghana.Ghana only manufacture djembes for money.True djembes are from Mali and Guinea.

  • fasinating to see how the djembe is made!
