  • I keep hearing a bird (i think greenfinch). But no vid or soundbite i hear seems to show same call. I hear it all over the place.. I have been in lowland uk.. near waterways and woodland.. and towns.

    In words. To me sounds like Chhheeeaaooow. Longish (1 to 2 seconds) single decending call. Almost polyphonic.. like the end of the chaffinch song.

    any ideas? I never seem to see it when it makes this sound

  • @JaguarEarlobe ~ Im not sure but the RSPB website has identification bird calls : rspb_org_uk in the Birds and Wildlife / Birds by Name section... I hope this helps :-)

  • hahaha Thank you. I have watched birds for many years now, and the goldfinches are my favorite birds to watch. They are very vibrant and active.
