never a good idea to release the slide that way...many an old sear has broken and let a 1911 go full auto and dump 7 rounds in 1sec... the 2nd round would have been in your throat most likely...its why in the Army for competitions we always used the FORSCOM loading technique.

Always been releasing slides with the slide release instead of racking slide onto a full mag.What does FORSCOM stand for? I will start to change this habit. What tension does the sear experience when the release is pressed down on a fully locked slide?

@joshweiss01 FORSCOM = United States Army "Forces Command" The loading technique is 1) to place the thumb of your non firing hand on the hammer while the slide is in the rear position and hold the hammer down.2) release the slide with pointer finger of the same hand while keeping the hammer under pressure. 3)when the slide is in battery, put the pointer finger between firing pin and hammer and slowly release the hammer. If the hammer pinches your finger you have a broken sear.

@joshweiss01 of course this is just for the range. Real life and death scenarios you do whatever is fastest and get the job done. But for range shooting, no need to put yourself in danger. This is for OLD 1911 A1 models before the firing pin block on some new models. True 1911 reproductions without firing pin blocks should use this technique too and also NEVER load directly into the chamber! Always load from the mag on the true 1911 modelsto prevent slamfires.

In 1976 I bought an early Colt Commander, took it to the range and the first round fired happened after the slide was released. I bought this from a private party whom I contacted immediatly as you might imagine. Never happened again.

Nonsense. Any centerfire handgun is going to be loud. It's so quiet in this video because of mic being screwed up by the buffeting of the wind. Also, most camera microphones aren't really suited to handling the loud noises of firearms anyway.

Okay for all the people arguing over the 9mm and .45 Bullets, Cartridges, Guns, Ect. The 9mm replaced the .45 due to the 9mm's superior cartridge capacity, range, accuracy and round weight. The .45 has moderate accuracy and a large bullet that travels at relativley slow speeds (800 f/ps), affecting its range, accuracy and many other things. The 9mm should be used in law enforecement and the .45 should be used a Military ordeals. Problem solved! now please stop bitching over which is superior.

I used to be a bouncer, one night there was a shooting in the parking lot, saw a guy take 4 in his gut from a 9. He jogged to his car holding his stomache, and drove himself to the hospital. You obviously don't know a damn thing about firearms. You see, when a semi-auto handgun fires and cycles, it ejects the case which falls to the ground. After the guy was shot, I noticed one of the cases lying on the ground, it was stamped 9mm luger. Also the story was in the paper. Answer your question smartass?

I do know a damn thing about firearms, look at my videos. Who knows, he could have been using ball ammo and not hollow points. In the emergency room, they can't differentiate between 9mm,.45, and .40 S&W wounds because they do similar amounts of tissue damage. Diameter isn't the only factor in determining a bullets lethality. A well placed 9mm will take down the bad guy just as easily as any .45 acp will.

I've read stories of Israel special agents taking down bad guys with just a .22 pistol ,and I've also heard stories of people surviving 7.62x39's to the chest. It's all about shot placement. 9mm pistols are prefered by most of the world's proffesional police and military units compared to .45 acp.

Yeah, a 22 to the brain will most certainly kill. The widespread use of te 9mm has more to do with NATO standardization than stopping power. In some countries, pistols over 35 caliber (9mm) are illegal. You still aren't seeming overly knowledgable on the subject, and I doubt your videos will change my mind. come on. Why do you think police departments are all dropping the 9 mm and moving to .40 and .45? A .45 slug will drop you, even if it doesnt hit a vital organ. A 9 mm will make a nice small hole, probably go straight through. It doesnt stop a person from returning fire. Sometimes people doent even realize they have been shot. A .45, even if it is ball, is big and heavy, and will make a big ugly hole. It will cause extreme trauma. Even if hit in the arm or leg, you are going to fall.

The COLT 1911 was specificly designed for little recoil, but is has a below fair capacity of 7 rounds, yes it is a blowback, recognized as one of the best pistols in American History, it competes with the Glock 17 and the M9.
