anyone who thinks what happened to kyle stanley and what van de velde did as being similar knows very little about golf. van de velde was a complete meltdown, kyle just hit an arrant third shot that spun off the green into the hazard. really quite unlucky.
Man watching that was awful! I heard him triple on 18 and I felt bad cause that's my job to triple on 18 at my local course. Keep ya head up Kyle and good luck in the future my friend.
I am happier that Brandt won, but what Kyle went through it was very sad. But in all I think he made big mistake.. you know you have 3-shot lead, you are pro with really powerfull swing (a lot of spin) very fast swing through hitting area.. he should go for the green in 2 or just select different shot type.. better be in the back of the green or in the rough than in the water. His big mistake... :(
@Corncrops I had never heard of him until now. Just looked him up. Both Vandeveld and Robert Garrigus did almost exactly the same thing, and now Kyle Stanley is part of that unfortunate group that are 3 strokes ahead going into the final hole, shoot a triple, and then lose the playoff.
