I graduated high school in 1979, one of my buddies got either a brand new 1978 or 1979 TA for graduation. He took me for a ride in that thing and it was by far the most powerful car I've ever ridden in in my life. I had a Mustang GT with a 302 HO with headers and some other mods and it was very fast for a 302, but it didn't have nothing for that TA. I'd love to know what motor was in that thing.

go and drive a honda s2000 with a 2 liter 4 banger that somehow manages to squeeze out a peak hp of 240 and then go and drive a 5.7 liter pontiac T/A for example, from the 1980s with an advertised 220 hp, and FEEL what the difference is ! some numbers are only relevant on the papers that the are written on folks! HP may sell a car, but TORQUE and how easy it comes wins the race! (provided a suitable driver of course) :D

its not the original engine....it has been chaged in 1977 because the first owner blowed the engine ....and he throwed in a 1971 455 H.O. on the GM Garanty

No, it's different when you hold the brakes. Lots of cars even with relatively low power will smoke the tires if you brake torque them. REAL power comes in ripping the tires off like that without that weak brake torquing. Type in Riviera 455 burnout and look at the first video. Hell yes, I've been in a '94 Z28 AUTO that went sideways going into second just by stomping the gas pedal (no rain or anything else, just good ol' dry pavement - not even that parking lot pavement).
