They ruined the PS2 version because someone cranked up the difficulty to insane levels, even on very easy the CPU fighters act like it's still on hard. It doesen't play like that in the arcade or on MAME. They buggered that one up proper.
I enjoy the original SF2 and SF more. They seem more balanced and well thought out compared to these turbo, super turbo follow ups.
SF2 used to be fun and competitive like a sport. And then, out of nowhere, hacks were being made where ryu could shoot fireballs in the air, curved fireballs, and so on. Capcom probably was aware of this illegal behavior and then came out with all these sequels to compete -- PREMATURELY. Suddenly, SF wasn't much of a sport competition anymore.
the first releases, the world warrior and champion edition, were fun, but those were broken as hell, really unbalanced. For ex. Bison (Vega/dictator) was insanely overpowered in champion edition, and The Word Warrior was full of bugs and glitches. Talking about balance and sport competition, Hyper fighting and Super Turbo were the shit.

I rather have Capcom release a collection for PS3/Xbox 360 instead simlar to how Sega did with Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

Yes. We need a FULL collection with SF1, SFII, SFIICE, SFIIT, SSFII, SSFII T, SSFIITR, HSFII, GB SFII, and SSFIIHDR.

Trust me, SSF2T is the most competitively sound version. It's also quite simply the best.
