Koren I love ALL your videos but I think it would be a good investment to get a better camera. Sadly in a lot of your videos we are missing out on seeing your wonderful tutorials clearly.
hey, great video, can you pleas please help me. i have a loong narrow face, what is the best way for me to apply blush and contour if needed for my face to look not so long..? thanks a lot
wow you truly are the best darn person here on youtube you have helped me so much i really appreciate it even my boyfriend who's a dudes dude was singing your little song in the beginning of your show lol. any ways im addicted to all your videos please dont stop!!! thanks again
No! If you have a yellow undertone i.e. your skin is warm looking/tans easily then you are WARM toned. If you have blue undertones i.e your skin is more pinky and you dont have a natural tendency for tanning then you are cool toned. tischytisch is right about the vein thing
well according to mac, yellow and olive (green) is cool, but most other makeup companies say the opposite. so depends who you go by. but either way, I think the best way to find out your undertone is to take your ethnicity into consideration.
I resently purchased the studiofix fliud in NW45 but my fix pwder is in NW43(already had)could I use the NW43 to set my foundation or should I purchased the fix powder in NW45 so it's an exact match?
you can try the NW43 on top of the 45 - use a powder blush, and you dont need a lot to set, so just dusting - and see how that works. If it looks ok, then keep it, if it looked ashy - then get 45 for a better match
hey oreo - you need to use a litle alcohol in a spray bottle as a binder. Just like in my Mending Broken/Cracked Eyeshadows video, if you havent watched that.
no, theyre not the same. Foundation gives coverage which will even out your skin tone and cover minor imperfections. Pressed powder is used to mainly blot the skin from shine and to set the foundation so it stays on the skin longer.
i have trouble finding the right shade of concealer / foundation either powder or liquid. i usually test the foundations out on the bottom side of my arm but sometimes when i test out more than one shade they all blend into my skin because they look kind of similar so its pretty confusing to know which shades are the most suitable for my skin..
Take a foundation and open it up. Rub a little bit of foundation into the palm of your hand. If the foundation seems to disappear, then it means it's your skintone!
And yeah, it IS confusing...XD mine's sorta easy to pick out though, my skintone is soft ivory. It's one of the whitest shades there is >_> I'm such a cracker...
hey NHR - being a makeup artist, most of my clients demands certain brands, and somehow majority requests MAC brand, so I accumulate a lot of MAC products. And of course, it also benefits us makeup artists to be able to charge more for using high-end products and bands that clients wants.
Oh thank you so much Koren! This helped me A LOT! I was so confused with this whole "MAC Pro" thing. Before I was thinking... Should I be a member? How come I can't order online. What is MacPro?
But now thanks to you, all my questions are FINALLY answered, yay!
I love you! And you have answered all of my makeup questions... that's right all of them!
Thanks a bunch Koren, you are sooo wonderful!! I never knew you didn't have to be a M.A.C. PRO to have the products, very informational video I love it!!! =)
I noticed that you used the avon color for your foundation showing..I use avon all the time and I am starting to do makeover with avon. Just wanted to know what's your opinion on avon.
Hi Koren, I am wondering if at the pro shop in New York (the new one) they give out price lists?? I am a PPID member but I cant see the prices on there, I am from Australia but have my friend going over to New York and wanted a price list to have a look at what I want them to get..the normal prices are online but not the pro products, do you know where or how I could get my hands on an up to date pro price list? Anita
I just logged on and cant see any prices, maybe its because I am from Australia, I have never seen any prices. Which section of the website is it?? If I click onto the different products I don't see any prices :( I am logged in
hmm are you logged on the US website? MACPRO (dot)com -it displays in US$ when you're log in, much like the regular website- I know Canadian site displays in CAN$. SO not sure about the other international sites. You can definitely contact Cust Serv and see if they can email you a price list in AUS$.
thanx Koren, yes I was logged into the US site but some reason dont see the prices, Bobbi brown is the same, Aussie's dont see the prices, must detect where you are from, anywho will give them a call, cheers and thanx for all the great vids!! ;P Neatzx
just wanted to say how much i love love love what you are doing. i payed so much money to go to a school and i feel as if i have gained more in watching your videos. what could your viewers do for you?
Thanks for the video and the advice, Koren. (The hat is fierce, BTW.) When I saw you falling over at the end of the vid I thought "wouldn't it be funny if he made a blooper reel?" I thought I'd make that suggestion if you haven't already created one.
I really enjoy the fact that you educate your viewers about make-up as well as teach applications. May you please do a tutorial on mixing foundations and also do you or would you ever teach make-up classes? Thanks
Enkore, I have a hard time figuring out what tone a foundation is by its name, if I'm not able to sample it. How can I tell if it's a yellow tone, pink/red tone or olive tone foundation by the name?
Which is better to purchase yellow/olive tones or pink/red tones for foundation? I'm fair skin, little pink/red in the cheeks/nose, with a very light yellow undertone in the neck/jaw area. Thanks!
I'm using NC15 and I have to use it very lightly or else I look yellow, should I be using NW15? The MAC artist chose it for me but I think it has to be wrong.
Is W warm and C cool? Doesn't the cool have more pink? I get flushed very easy. And one glass of wine turns my cheek cherry red! LOL! Hence, I rarely drink. Thanks for your help. Marisol same as Luzimar, expect backwards then changed the sol to luz, which both mean light or sunlight. LOL!
Hi, so I have a cracked blush at it is a Smashbox one. It had started out with one crack down the center now it has spread & divided into four & getting crumbly.
1. Should I have just loosened the initial crack and poured some alcohol and pressed?
2. Now that it is in four pieces and getting crumbly, should I remove & follow the procedure you did in your video for your friends broken eyeshadow?
Here's an update, it worked, thank you so much! I used a clean mortar and pestle to pulverize it, added the alcohol, scraped it out with a small rubber spatula, smoothed it into the blush container and waited. I then used a clean but old white t-shirt wrapped around 1/3 measuring cup as you suggested.
hey Ryce - you can definitely use Lip Erase to neutralize your lips prior to applying sheer lipstick. However, if you are using GLAZE lipstick, it will be too sheer that the lip erase will show through.
you can re press it - but to get that domed look is hard to do, as those were baked in terra cotta clay molds for like 3 days. But you can pulverize it and press using Mixing Medium, not alcohol.
OMG I love your "out-tro" too cute. I have an additional question, how can you find out the prices of the different pro poducts, for example the eyeshadows and such.
hey babycakes - some people just google them for various resources. PRO Members gets to log in on the Pro site and the prices are displayed much like the regular site. People also get info from Specktra (dot) net.
Oh god! My studio fix compact broke and I was getting ready to fix it and my toddler pick it up and wasted all over the carpet ;( good excuse to go to the mac counter!!!! yayy
hi, i know its out of topic, but i am just wondering where you got your make-up chair(the one at your back)? i've been looking for a make up chair for a while.
Hey Korennnnnnn! You should get your own website like pursebuzz. Then, you can tell us about ur amazing life everyday because I and a lot of other people would love that too!
this is freaky. I just broke my MAC pressed powder today and was wondering how can I get them fixed. Imagine my shock when I log on to youtube and saw this video. What a coincidence! :)
No, Only Stores that are designated to carry PRO Products. ALL freestanding stores carry Empty Palettes and Eyeshadow Pan Refils (which are cosidered Pro Products) and thats pretty much it. The rest are only avail at Pro Stores.
i have a question about MAC eyeshadows.when you go on the site and click to see the description of each eyeshadow color they'll have words in parenthesis like (frost), (lustre), (matte) and a few others. what does that mean?
hey boelvira - those are the Finishes of the eyeshadows. Frosts are the shimmery sparkly effects, lustres have a little shine and tend to be a little sheer and great for washes, and mattes are flat no shine no glitter no sparkle. There's also Satin, Veluxe Pearl, etc. etc. - so those are the descriptions of the finishes of the eyeshadows.
awesome your so informational :) i have a question how hard is it to get a procard and the beauty school i am goin to is covered under the mac prostudent program what do you know bout this program??? what ive read online jus isnt clickin lol :) thx koren
hey ronsonsmommie - if your beauty school is registered and approved by MAC, then you qualify for the Pro Membership program. Either ask your school for the PPID form, or you can contact MAC Pro Membership. You can also pick up PPID forms at any freestanding Mac Store.
I have a question I called the mac pro number to see if I can order some mixing medium. And they asked for my pro number. So of course me emberrased said oh I'm sorry I wanted the regular mac customer service number. So how should I sk or what do I say when calling and trying to order. Anyways I noticed that the regular Mac online carries it now. WOOOO HOOO. SO I order it. And I am so happy. But maybe in the future I would want to order a color any sugestions on how I can ask them?
I would just simply say, I really really wanted a Pro Product, can I order it today? Usually the Rep will not reject a sale. Altho, you will probably have more luck and less hassle calling a Pro Store.
hi eyecandie - Ben Nye Final Seal is a really good strong Sealer. Its really nothing comparable to Fix+. Ben Nye Seal is like spraying Hairspray or Shelack Spray on your skin to really lock in the makeup, but not as harsh. Fix+ is more herbal.
hi, so i was wondering, would you still use alcohol to press your blushes? i mean couldnt that be harsh for the skin? or would it completely evaporate? thanks for the info!
Thanks for this. I wasn't sure if I could press a pressed powder or not. I cracked my Chanel one and have been pretty distressed about it, lol. I just need to find something square to fit. =]

hey ronsonsmommie - if your beauty school is registered and approved by MAC, then you qualify for the Pro Membership program.

Can you show how to depot eyeshadows from DIOR? I have four different 5-colour Dior sets & would like to have them all in one container (palette).

Are you familiar with ben nye final seal; how does it compare to mac fix spray?
eyecandie2004 3 years ago
hi eyecandie - Ben Nye Final Seal is a really good strong Sealer. Its really nothing comparable to Fix+. Ben Nye Seal is like spraying Hairspray or Shelack Spray on your skin to really lock in the makeup, but not as harsh. Fix+ is more herbal.

hi, so i was wondering, would you still use alcohol to press your blushes? i mean couldnt that be harsh for the skin? or would it completely evaporate? thanks for the info!
redspore3000 3 years ago
yeah Alcohol will eveaporate when it completely dries.

Thanks for this. I wasn't sure if I could press a pressed powder or not. I cracked my Chanel one and have been pretty distressed about it, lol. I just need to find something square to fit. =]
