im a college nerd and that sir is a condenser microphone, the different between that and a nomral mic or a "dynamic" mic it picks up more of the higher and lower pitches that a dynamic mic cant, it also provides a lot better qaulity of sound. They are very expensive and i think that is why you dont see them so much...hope that helped lol
