Le riordo che U. Ughi è più sulla settantina che sulla sessantina : è logico che non abbia più la " freschezza " e la " scioltezza " di un tempo, ma ciò non toglie che rimane un grande, anzi GRANDISSIMO violinista.

N. Paganini, forse non lo sa, ma il più delle volte suonava per il grande pubblico e mirava solo a lasciarlo di stucco con artifici tecnici, giochetti virtuosistici e pirotecnici vari. L'ho detto e lo ribadisco : il massimo compositore per violino di sempre rimane e rimarrà il divino A. Vivaldi ( tallonato da J. S. Bach ). A. Vivaldi è sì un virtuoso ma il suo è un virtuosismo " ragionato," un virtuosismo la cui logica va ben al di là dal lasciare a bocca aperta il grande pubblico. Saluti.

Io non scrivo opere, io giudico quello che sento e poiché ho suonato violino per oltre dieci anni credo di essere nelle condizioni di poter almeno esprimere un parere. Nella musica di Bach e Vivaldi si sentono l'armonia, la melodia, il BELLO insomma, qui si sentono solo una marea di note alla rinfusa. Paragonare il divino prete rosso o l'immenso Bach a questo autentico obbrobrio è come paragonare lo champagne al cognac, anzi no alla coca cola ( tanto per citare un espressione della Callas ).

E allora credo proprio che dieci anni di violino non le siano bastati ad affinare l'orecchio visto che riesce a trovare solo note "confuse" o virtuosismi inutili in un tema dal primo tempo del 1 concerto di paganini,considerato dai più(e attenzione,forse non tutti "pseudoesperti" come si permette di apostrofare lei) uno dei più lirici estratti di musica di ogni tempo.

O ancora Il carnevale di Venezia o magari un terzo tempo dal 2o concerto,La Campanella,che secondo diversi sondaggi risulta essere il pezzo per violino più conosciuto e ammirato al mondo dopo il concerto di mendelssohn.Ovviamente i partecipanti a questi sondaggi non sono tutti eruditi o pseudoesperti musicali,quindi magari anche tra i profani qualcuno che riesce a distinguere due note "confuse" tra le tante c'è.Se avessero tutti l'orecchio che si ritrova lei staremmo freschi..

Non metto in dubbio il fatto che N. Paganini abbia scritto concerti per violino affascinanti da ascoltare ; ciò che io critico è questo approccio alla musica a dir poco ridicolo in cui contano solo il virtuosismo e la preparazione tecnica. Un artista " pirotecnico " non è necessariamente più completo di altri : con Paganini, Ysaye e compagnia è più che sufficiente suonare le note scritte, con Bach e Vivaldi se ci si limita a suonare ciò che è scritto la resa sarà autenticamente PENOSA.

Il suo ragionamento, mi scusi se glielo dico ma non fila : per giudicare un'opera non è necessario essere, in senso tecnico, al livello dell'artista considerato ( altrimenti nessun critico potrebbe mai giudicare i quadri di Leonardo, Tiziano, Raffaello, Caravaggio ). Per capire che questo è solo un ammasso di virtuosismo che qualche pseudoesperto vuole far passare per musica di alto livello non è certamente neccessario un diploma in composizione con il massimo dei voti e la menzione d'onore.

I honestly don't get how at least a few other violinist's such as myself absolutely hate his interpretation of this piece.

He's a great violinist but his interpretation is horrible. He completely missed the climaxes of the piece, and doesn't allow you to enjoy a lot of it because he's flying through trying to be "expressive" when he's really just stretching and condensing the rhythm and using dynamics to the point where it's a bad thing.

He's not the only one that interpreted this badly.

maybe his style is just not your cup of tea. I thoroughly enjoyed this interpretation. I think it must be one of the best out there. He had that intense character in music that may not be suitable to everyone and the WOW effect is obvious. Just my humble opinion.

She has played Ernst's works such as The Last Rose of Summer and the Der Erlkoenig which are considered as the most difficult violin works ever...

When I ll see Vengerov playing this polyphonic miracle Der Erlkoenig, I ll be able to compare him with Hilary.. but till then Hilary will be top :D

@DualThunder ive heard joshua bell playing this piece. its actually not so bad BUT OF COURSE its billions of light years away from Vengerov. I dont think anyone plays it as good as Vengerov. Only ppl. who come close are Laurent Korcia, Gilles Apap, Vadim Repin(I heard him do it at an impromptu recital he did while visiting nyc) and kaler, kremer. im not ranting on bell but he plays the ysaye at a level that is reachable by any conservatory student.

I don't think ysaye is joshua bell's cup of tea. musically he isn't as suited to it as vengerov. i think there is also an element of bell being from a different musical background. vengerov is closer to the music. would love to see what apap does with ysaye. there are videos on youtube of the sonatas but the violinist is unknown to me. for me these are some of the best recordings ive ever heard.

Afterall, they aren't "big names" for no reason. Although many professional violinists can play these pieces and even make "magic" with them emotionally, these "big names" are almost sure to give extraordinary performances and interpretations. These are of course slight and sometimes barely noticeable nuances, but worth the highest praise.

Hahn is very academic in the sense that she plays everything according to the score and it is technically very secure. But I think, even though Vengerov twists the piece a bit, it is a lot more exciting and he is technically just as good.
