Dude, the way u crossing the road looks very unreal. Road should be cross in the shortest distance. U seems like walking in the middle of road rather then getting out of there.

BTW, there is better way to cross the road and that's is at Traffic Signal. Here in Bangalore, before every Green light there is time given for the pedestrians to cross the road.

I accept the fact that roads and traffic condition in India is a mess, so we need to be more sensitive and more alert! Be optimistic...

if you are traveling to India few tips that will keep you safe on roads:

1) never RUN on the road no matter what, even if you are scared never run.

2) keep walking steadily. never take a step BACK, chances to meet with accident increases.

3) be cautious and keep watching for 2 wheelers i.e. scooters or bike they are the worst part.

4) if you are stuck in the middle of the road then stand still for few seconds then move on, cars will pass from behind.

You NEVER stop in the middle of the road. The key is to keep moving forward like the guy in the video in front of you. Stopping in the middle of the road is putting yourself in a lot of danger. You had a couple of near misses there and were lucky that you came out of it OK.

Probably didn't help that you were distracted by trying to record the whole event too. I can just imagine the frustration of the motorists upon seeing a white guy standing in the middle of the road with a camera! LOL

The first week I went back to India after a while...I was so confused and scared..esp since the traffic runs in the opposite direction...I would at times start crossing looking the wrong way...but at the same time...drivers do look out for people coz they kinda expect someone to run across any minute.
