mullaperiyar dam was reinforced wit a backing dam its a additional support with reinforcement over the existing dam,there are 92 steel bars are deiven from top to underground in the year 1979,the dam is just blockade their is 2 km mountain deiven tunnel which gives water to tamil nadu,even if the dam collapse itl reaches idiki dam in 4hrs which has a discharging capacity of 4 lakh litrs which will not affect kerala,its kl govt stratigic plan to run power project in idiki,so ppl stop fighting

constructing one new dam in this ecolologically fragile region will be much more dangerous and disastrous than the existing dam.so the best advisable option is to find out ways how to maintain the existing dam safely.

@lrksrini Somebody can make this videos . But who can avoid such an accident ? TN politicians want to cancel supreme court order to hang Rajiv Gandhi murderers. They want to stop Kudankulam plant ( built 2011) telling it is not safe. They say 116 year old dam with heavy leakages situated at earthquake prone area is safe and no need to rebuild it eventhoung water supply from the rebuilt dam is guaranteed . Stop hatred and think like a human being.
