I have a Dachshund, and he does this too. He'll lie on his back and wags his tail at you. He wants his tummy rubbed, Your dog probably wants his tummy rubbed.

my basset does that too! my husband took her for a walk and she refused to walk back. we live up a hill so she laid down on her back and refused to move. as i'm watering flowers outside, i see my husband carrying our 45 pound basset back home...haha....but i love her :)

My basset --back in his younger days, when he could handle longer walks--

would literally "fake" pass out in the grass, road, or wherever we happened to be, once we had to turn around and backtrack the walk. Even if I dragged him for a few seconds he would just lie there and go with the flow, like a sack of stubborn potatoes!! He'd only pop up if I agreed to continue walking further..smart little guy, haha. Now Duke just voluntarily mopes on over to the car when he's all tired from walking :(

LOL that is my Quincy. You call him and walks slow as he can and still be moving. He drives me up a damned wall at times. Then he will try and sneak by right in from of you-Like I cannot see his sixty pound long eared ass. He is awesome.
