  • Thank you so much for this. It shows how Justin hugged the music that came just before him. That seems to include country and folk music, show tunes, classical ... all music, to some extent. His vocal style is simple: clear, coherent tone with the passion of a poet.

  • How can anyone dislike this????????????

  • These early songs of Justin's remind me a bit of Early Gordon Lightfoot...another beautiful songwriter.

  • @thanksforthemusic ....Thats just what I was thinking! Sounds like old Gordon Lightfoot!

  • @Donnoha Great minds think alike I suppose. Best Wishes...

  • Vedy cool, vedy, vedy cool and vespa!

  • Justin is simply gorgeous..... damn!

  • Once again, Taranberk comes thru with another obscure Justin Hayward rarity!!! Thanks for sharing for all to enjoy!!! How about a hand for Taranberk??? Who is with me???

  • This is not as much about the music as it is about the pictures...incredible archive. Thanks for sharing.

  • someone did a great cover of London Is Behind Me on a Moody Blues tribute album...sounds like the real Moody Blues with Mellotron and all....

  • Some Moodies fan you are. ;-) Check our their "mystery song." The one you're referring to is by Ryan Guidry and is indeed on a tribute album (that is currently about $90 on Amazon).

  • thank you

  • what a find !!!! a true treasure !!! thanks redbaron for the share !!!! straight to my favs.....!!!

  • Dang! I just found this stuff. I love the arrangement. I'll be popping in often!

  • Justin quit smoking over 20 yearsago...good for him!!!! Hopefully that will enable him to sing and perform until he is 100 or so!!!!!

  • If you like rarities and want to discover more gems like this, check out my new bulletin board--click on "more info" about this video, upper right.

  • He's one of life's gorgeous guys, full stop! Met him at the fan club's wine & cheese christmas party in1980 and he was gorgeous then.....swoon.

  • Thanks for posting these. I've had versions of these songs for some years now, but this is the first time I'm hearing them at the correct speed.

Where did you get them? Has Justin finally rereleased this stuff?

  • Justin was an incredibly talented young artist...with an amazing voice range, and he hasn't changed much...unlike most of his counterparts !!

  • Some great singers from Hayward's heyday have lost the richness of their voice years ago. Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer had a voice similar in quality to Justin, but it has gone thin. Even Paul McCartney couldn't hit upper notes on Magical Mystery Tour when I saw him in 1993. Also, Art Garfunkel can't sing Bridge Over Troubled Water very well anymore and Elton John can't hit the upper registers on many of his songs. Justin still has 95% of his original range. I've seen him 25 times now.

  • being a respiratory therapist i work in the hospital and Thank God he quit!!

there no redeeming qualities with any smoke...and it means justin his talent and voice is with us longer ..its not easy to quit either..good going justin!

  • Justin Hayward Hillbilly style! Thank goodness he joined the Moody Blues and found classic rock instead!

  • That's pretty much what my mom said when she overheard this video lol. Personally I find "London Is Behind Me", um... interesting... but I love "Day Must Come". No matter how many times I watch it I still melt a little at the way he sings "Please make it soon" *wistful sigh*

  • marie hayward is such a lucky lady!!!

  • She's always been a bit of a moose though. Doremi is a very lucky girl to have inherited her father's and not her mother's looks.

  • i think in voice, talent and LOOKS... justin has got to be just about perfect. moodies have been my favourite band since 1969. thanks for the great pics some of which i had plastered on my bedroom wall in the early seventies. it was a trip down memory lane.

  • Always and everything Justin touches both musically and lyrically is outsatnding!!!!!

  • @suerose555 Hey Suerose555 I totally agree! Marie is extremely lucky. This man was gorgeous and has aged well for a man in his 60's. He can be my dad, but I still have a crush on him. I must be into old men now LOL...Justin is an exception...I hope he keeps playing until he cannot perform anymore...Love him...Class, Style, Quiet Strength and looks! :)

  • Oh my god! What a beautifull boy Justin was/is! And what a lucky girl to marry him! I love the songs! Thanx for sharing :)

  • The family pics are adorable (1:51 especially- aww!) and he looks almost grandfatherly, in a cute way, at the end. But I must admit, 1:23... he was so gorgeous. lol

  • very, very good!!!!!

  • ...and that precious face peeking around the door - LOL!

  • didnt realize justin smoked not good for the voice hope he has quit...

  • He quit smoking over 20 years ago.

  • what a sweet montage! feelin better already today, thank you!

  • Taranberk, what a lovely compilation to share with us Moodies.

  • ...as a big fan of both, I may be out of my head...but these two early songs remind me a bit of Gordon Lightfoot's earliest songs...

  • doremi must be almost as tall as Justin! lovely wedding dress~thanks again Taran

  • I keep writing that the Moodies Fans amaze me. What a great thing You Tube is! I've been a fan of The Moody Blues almost my whole life (literally) and have never heard Day Must Come before. The pictures were great. So nice to see Justin smile and to see him with his family! I wish there was a CD of all the "rare" songs. Thank you!

  • Thanks for these gorgeous photo's of the fantastic Justin!

  • What an excellent slideshow, thanks so much for creating this and posting it for the LiveVideo community to enjoy.

    Peace,

    Jim

  • "Day Must Come" Three lines of melody and it's stuck in my brain. Not that I am complaining, I like it. Taranberk, thank you. Your posting is the first time I had heard these.

  • Very cool. Justin was, is, and always will be my favorite singer/songwriter. Thanks.

  • I have to agree with FizzyDrink, These singles are gold! Justin is definitely my favorite singer/songwriter. :-)

  • These singles are gold! I can't stop listening to them! Justin is definitely my favorite singer/songwriter.

  • What a great collection of pictures -- thank you for sharing them!

  • is this with the wilde three?

  • This was Justin's first solo single (London is Behind Me). Day Must Come is the flip side. This was taken from the CD "Footsteps To Fame"--which is why you don't hear vinyl hiss or pops. "London Is Behind Me" is now available on the Classic Artists DVD/CD package--T.

  • Hi Taranberk, Such a grrreat collection of photo's! Love these two songs, especially the arrangements and production. Many thanks to you and everyone that makes it possible for us to enjoy these great videos...

  • I see you answered my question already. Thanks!

  • great as usual taran . thanks!

  • Ilike it thanks for your work :)
