Well, the facemelting scene was an awsome practical effect involving waxdolls and strong lighting. And this cutscene did not do it justice.

1.The scene is adapted for kids, there's no blood, but you can't understand anything.

2.The scene is too much short.

@platinumglitchmint--Good point. I was little when I first saw this movie, and I remember the scene of the stupid Nazis melting really scaring me. Raiders is from 1981, and a lot has changed since then (especially with how they rate movies.) I heard they had to hide a certain scene just so it would receive a PG rating. This was also made prior to PG-13.

The one scene changed so that "Raiders" would get a PG instead of an R (no PG-13 yet) was of Belloq's head exploding; they hid it behind the wall of fire so that it would be less graphic.

I read an article once which said that. PG-13 was non-existant until 1984. They say that 'Red Dawn' (1984) was the first movie to hold that rating.

That's very true; it was thanks to films like Gremlins and the next Indy film "Temple of Doom" that the PG-13 rating was created. In fact, it was at Steven Spielberg's urging that it was created. "Red Dawn" was the first film relesed with the rating PG-13, but "The Flamingo Kid" was the first to be rated PG-13 (it was released later than "Red Dawn").

That's what the article said. At least that's a better alternative to the 'R' rating (a type of film parents are very paranoid about.) All the Indiana Jones movies after the second one hold a PG-13 rating. What's weird about that is that every single ROCKY movie except 'Rocky V' (the one I find kinda disturbing) hold the PG rating. At least my folks were never paranoid about the PG-13 rating.

I've seen all the Rocky movies except Rocky V and they weren't very violent or disturbing. It's boxing, which is a violent sport, but it wasn't really in-your-face violent. It was a sportsman's challenge.

However, it's also kind of funny that almost all the James Bond movies were rated PG.

You miss nothing. I can't really watch 'Rocky V' anymore. It's kinda depressing. 'Rocky V' was a little more violent than the first 4, and that's probably why. I am sure the movie or clips from the movie have been posted here on YT. I can't believe 20 years have gone by since the release of 'Rocky V.' They could've done better.

Huh. Yeah, I remember the trailer for Rocky V, it seemed to be a lot about Rocky having brain damage from so many fights, which just sounds really depressing. I liked Rocky Balboa, the 6th movie, though.

Sad but true. The trailer is basically the whole movie. He actually retires in 'Rocky V' entirely because (of his brain damage), and loses everything. Even watching the trailer is a little depressing IMO. The character in 'Rocky V' I hate the most is that black actor with glasses; he is really that annoying. Ironically, people actually like Rocky V better than any of the 6. Then again, Rocky I-IV and Rocky Balboa are more for me than the depressing 5th one.

Really? I was under the impression that most people did not like Rocky V. Personally, I don't see how anyone couldn't like Rocky I and II, or the epic battles with Clubber Lang and Dragonov (spelling). And then Rocky Balboa just wrapped up the series nicely. It's a shame that Rocky V was a depressing movie like that; it sounds pretty dismall.

He thought that the ritual require him to have the ceremonial vestments. Unlike the Nazis, he really believed that the ark had sacred powers. Unfortunately, since he was using them for evil, the spirits in the ark didn't like it.

@Funkpopper From what I have seen in the movie he looks like a Jew high priest (in the mvoie we see him with the plate collar with 12 gems for the original twelve israel clans) performing a ritual before opening, strange thing from Spielberg, since Hitler hated so much the Jews that during WWII he ordered to kill in first phases of Shoah more than 5000 Jews prisoners specialized into weapon manufacture, a true revelation about the bloody and stupid behaviour of that regime

@Funkpopper He wanted to make it more of an actual "Jewish ceremony" type thing. He wanted it extra official, like thnelement said, and since he believed in the Ark's supernatural powers, he thought that by going straight to the ceremonial necessities described in the Bible, he could "harness" those powers, or somehow appease God, I guess.
