I had this set. It was great. After the cars stopped working, I took out the gears and stacked in pennies to make them roll like my hot wheels and matchbox. Good times
None of the toy stores in my area had this racing set when my parents went Christmas shopping, or at least that's what they told me back then!! Me and my brother wanted this set so bad we would have donated our organs to have it!!
I got this set in x-mas 81. I was 9 and the set worked great! I recently bought one of the new AUTOWORLD reproductions RC set and not only do they hardly work at all but there's NO JUMP! WTF? It's not DUKES of HAZZARD if there's no jump.
I was 12 years old in 1981 & a BIG fan of The Dukes of Hazzard. I remember this commercial. Damn, but I wanted this toy. My family was dirt poor and we couldnt afford store bought toys advertised on tv like this one. My toy collection pretty much consisted of mis-matched odds and ends, bits and pieces, that were handed down to me by friends, or found in the streets somewhere, etc. Toy commercials like this one (and being a big watcher of tv, I saw thousands of them), only served to torture me.
I had this track as a kid , i thik i got it for christmas or my birthday . It was cool . The figure 8 track was a little small , but the jump was nice . They key to taking the turns on the was to slow down at the right turn orr you would fly off the track . And you had to hit the jump at full speed or close to full speed or else you wouldn't make it over . I was 10 years old in 1981 , in November i turned 11 . Good times !!!! Those were the days .
i have 2 of these race tracks, one is still sealed in the box and i have the other one up for sale on craigslist. the race track is alot of fun to use..yee-haw!
