  • hi i'm a beginner and dont know what telescope to buy the nexstar 5se / 6se or 8se, i want to get me 1 good scope for the rest of my life and dont buy me 2 or 3 scopes so anyone know whats the best one of the 3

  • @Dompiestompie,

The bigger the better!:) It also depends on what are your intensions with it. Astrophotography or naked eye viewing?

  • i dont know what to buy from the nexstar series. i'm a beginner and i have saved the money to get the 5 / 6 or 8se :(

  • I have a 6"se, and I'm satisfied with it.

But there is a lot of free play in my finderscope, I think that's a bit shitty.

  • @Raksonevs, and you can not tighten the screws?

  • @bosb33r No, the knob screw is loose in its' holes (ca +-0,5mm)

  • @Raksonevs MMmm... that's crap, i don't know when and where you bought the telescope but you should get a new one ;)

  • I will be buying the nextar 4se Soon.

  • That's great rsalamun6147, it will give you the results from my Russentone telescope.

  • I own a NexStar 6SE and use a 2 inch diagonal.... was thinking of upgrading to 8SE but can you tell me does it clear the base with your WO 2 inch diagonal?

  • @peavy82 the 2" diagonal on the nexstar is sharper to make video's, but standard diagonal is better for real close ups. And no does it doesn't clear the base with 2 inch diagonal.

  • @peavy82 I've got the 8SE, I bought the $115 Celestron 2" diagonal and if you mount the OTA all the way at the end of the dovetail (so the end of the dovetail is flush with the mount) it clears the base with about 3mm to spare at zenith.

  • @sparky2171 Thanks for the reply mate, it's been very helpful.

  • Necesitooo un telescopio! :D Buenisimo video!

  • Awesome.....I just purchased mine...had it a few months, but I REALLY need a lesson. Does anyone know a good online tutorial?

  • @kenckeefe, Congratulations on your acquisition! wel to use its very easy. But when you need some help just ask! ;0)

  • @bosb33r

Thanks for replying....I take it out with my children, seeing Jupiter was amazing....I got to see 7 of her moons also, but I am using it manually, couldn't seem to get it programmed properly. And would also like to take pictures....I have a Cannon PowerShot.....has a USB connection, but I am thinking I need something more unique for the Telescope, this is all very new to me. There is a local Astronomy club in my county....think I will give them a visit.

  • @kenckeefe, Yes watching planets and the moon its amazing to see!! to make movies you can better do it like the way i do it with a digiscope adapter. What kind of eyepieces do you have now?

  • got one a week ago. Seeing jupiter for the first time was cool - i thought all those pictures in books etc were touched up but it's just how it appears !

One thing about this scope - god damn the motors are noisy ! I would expect in the location where the guy is on this video he'd have to have very nice neighbours because it's not a quiet scope by a long shot

It comes with 1x25mm (80x) lens, a star diagonal, screw on star finder, and thats it. No power adapter, no batterys, no cases, no cloth

  • @sweetypie000 Also clear skies for you ;) yes its a very good telescope and very clear optics, when you buy some some other eyieces your eyes roll out ;0) try to get a 17mm and a 10 or 8mm.About the motors they are noisy on full speed! not when you are tracking a object, you may be glad you don't have the ETX-70 when this one is turning the neighbours will ask you for a cup of coffee :0)

  • @bosb33r lol, rate 7 isn't so loud so i can use that, slow though hehe.

looking at getting a baadar hyperion 8-24 click tomorrow, not cheap but I only got one lense atm and anything else individually is going to add up

I've got a pretty decent night vision scope, have u heard of anyone ever hooking it up to a telescope ? i would expect it to be pretty good...

  • @sweetypie000 mm you need to test it with nightvision i hope it works!! let me know how it looks!

  • really great scope! if it comes with a 1.25" diagonal how is the 2" star diagonal attached? does it have a narrower field of view compared to a newtonian with a 2" focuser?

  • Th@nks peavy82, Sorry i never watched through a newtonian telescope :( like to see it ;) perhaps some day on a star party? about the 2" diagonal you need to remove the visual back from the celestron.

  • I'm curious about the Nexstar SE's camera control feature. Have you tried it? How does it work?

    Thanks! =)

  • I really do not know :)

  • I'm curious about the Nexstar SE's camera control feature. Have you tried it? How does it work?
