  • Great video, going to try it tonight. Thanks for posting this

  • @gollumthedog

Hope you enjoy the recipe and thanks for commenting!

  • thanks for the video.

  • id like to ask you do you work as a chef? because I heard from another video than they get mininum wage most of the time. please explain this in a comment or make a video on how to become a chef thank you :)

  • @daretheballoon It’s hot, grueling work. There is good money in line cooks at diners such as Denny’s. In my opinion, New Orleans, Los Angeles or New York is where you should cook. Pay is comparable to location, experience, and ability to endure high stress. Talk to schools that offer the degree. Talk to the chefs where you eat; Ask Questions. This career was not for me. It was too stressful. My back always hurt – something you have to endure in this industry.

  • @gregpicadash

Good comment. It is a very high stress and high demanding job. It is not for everyone....

  • Looks delicious, I just have one question though. Is the lemon herb marinade just a blend of lemon and cilantro? And if it is, wouldn't the fish start cooking in the marinade like ceviche?

  • @chorizosandwich I have a separate video on my marinade. It has lemon juice and olive oil, among other ingredients. You don't want to marinate anything too long in lemon juice, as it will start cooking. Cheers, Jason

  • thanks Jason we tried them and they rock!

  • @Coachrob36 Awesome! Glad you liked them!

  • Great Vid, if you serve the fish in strips is that better than shredded up it's hard for me because some of this fish is so flaky.

  • @droidomz

I like to serve them in strips. If your fish breaks apart, that's ok too!

  • There are two Bajas, actually, Baja California and Baja California Sur -South Lower California-

  • hmmm i like my fish tacos pink.

  • stopped watching the second you mentioned it was grilled not deep fried.

  • @ChronicRecords

Well, at least you commented.... =]

  • You can make a really good salsa by cutting and mixing Tomato, Onion and green Chilli. You can also add some Mustard and Ketchup, it tastes really good.

  • At the beginning did you say "BEER BATTER" tacos? WHAT GIVES? :) Great video

  • @ethandiaz

Ha ha. A beer battered/deep fried fish for this would be great. I did a grilled version for this video. I should do one on the batter version in the future. Thanks for commenting!

  • Is it SHAPED like a fish?

  • lettuce would do right cause i dont liek cabbage =\

  • @francocrs Cabbage is traditional, but you can certainly use lettuce. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Ahhhh, why why why did I watch this video??? Nursing a hangover, and I need some of this ahora! I live in San Diego but Rubio's seems so far away right about now. This looks delicious. Thanks for the video!

  • @Ezradanielv You're welcome! Hope you finally got over there. :)

  • It will still taste good. Just won't be grilled. Enjoy!

  • 3:31 need ...SALSA DE CHILE MORITA

  • Sounds good. What goes into that?

  • Since mahi mahi isn't available here in Aus. I wondering what other fish do you suggest for the tacos that are just as good? Thanks!

  • Most white fish makes a great fish taco. What fish is available in your area?

  • Well from what i know there's Snapper, Dhufish, Cod, Hake, Whiting, Barramundi. Bout all i can think of. Have no idea what kind of white fish are here either that can be consumed.

  • You can start out with snapper or cod. Those are two fairly common white fish here as well. Enjoy!

  • Thanks Jason! : )

  • When ever i go to Mexico i always have tacos al pastor, but they don't serve them in any mexican restaurant here. Do you know a good recipe to make at home? and thank you for all your great recipes they are very good!

  • Hello! Yes, that's actually on our list of recipes to prepare. We have many authentic Mexican recipes to share. It's just a matter of filming them all and getting them up! Thanks again for the kind comments! Jason

  • yep, im mexican, and i can tell you the tacos al pastor are one of the best tacos, and it´s traditional. In the other hand, fish tacos are so uncommon to have here in mexico, i never had one, i can imagine those tacos are tasty but definetly are not mexican traditional 0_0

  • Do you remember "tacos de cazon", they are made with the meat from a tiny shark ( least than 1 meter long ) wich is named CAZON. Very popular in Veracruz with "pico de gallo" or " salsa habanera" if you are " muy macho"

  • Actually, I'm from Mexico also, the fish tacos originated in Ensenada Baja California. They are great made with angelito fish, mmm rico! You can enjoy them any where in Tijuana also.

  • i sooo love ur videos.. its easy yet very tempting.. im gona try ds and the appl fry.. ^^

  • Hope you like them. Thanks so much for the nice comments! Cheers, Jason

  • Hope you try this recipe!

  • Ymumu, looks délicious.

  • Thank you so much!

  • good job...i love tacos

  • Thank you!

  • Another clarification ....and who I meant by "Ralf" ...Ralf Rubio.

  • Wow, lots of interesting information there. Thanks for sharing your story! Jason

  • DEELICIOUS :]

  • The torta stand was just an open grill, where a woman would first pound down these strips of beef with a mallet, then heavily season them while they cooked fast on this fire grill. The buns were fresh, and you could smell them baking in an oven in the back, and another reason people were drawn from the bar to her stand. (Cont)

  • This looks so good! I used to live in California, and loved Rubio's Fish Tacos!

  • And even before the fish taco was the hot item in this remote little fishing village down Baja way, directly accross the street from Bar Miramar was a "Torta" stand that was even busier, years earlier, and most likely what inspired the old man to try and catch some of the crowd waiting for frest tortas. (cont)

  • ....I would pass on the fish taco beer batter ... With fresh "Ono" , "Wahoo" to those of you from a different part of the country, just off the boat, you might want to try this less the the "beer batter" . Just a suggestion.

  • were's the beer batter!!!

  • I mention in the video that this is a grilled recipe. =]

  • I was there. College buddies, San Felipe, Baja. Spring Break ....I'd say, a little over 30 years ago. The dirt street in front of "Bar Miramar" ... the attraction. A few doors down, a little taco shop, run by a little old man, who stayed open until Bar Miramar was closed to catch the hungry few that fell onto the street around 3AM.. This is where the Fish Taco originated, Ralf, drunk, writting down the recipe, putting in his wallet, and then capitalizing some years later... just to clarify!

  • Great story! Ha! Thanks for posting man!

  • ...Another interesting part of the story. It may well be that "Bar Miramar" , quite famous to this day, might just be where "Corona" beer took off from. It was the only beer available in this place that seated around 50, yet somehow managed to get 100+ inside, most of which were dancing by around 10pm to the Juke Box, of course unless the Mariachi band strolled in, when the dancing really became interesting. (con't)

  • She added tomato, and lettuce, and mayo (I think it was mayo...never dared asked... and pretty certain the meat was beef, although there were always rumors about dogs suddenly disappearing left and right). I am sure of one thing, I would return stateside and tell more stories about how good those tortas were, more often than the tacos. (cont)

  • OMG! The plot thickens!

  • i love fish and i love tacos!!!! thanks for the recipe!!!!

  • We do this at least once a week. YUMMMMMMMMM.

  • Awesome! It's one of our summer staples. Glad you like it!

  • He said Cillantro was his herb.

  • I guess it's a plant, but I plant cilantro in my herb garden, so I always think of it as an herb.

  • It's anything you want it to be baby. We got GREAT reviews from my wife's friends at work for this recipe. THANK YOU. We love it.

  • You're welcome. Glad you guys like the recipe. Thanks for commenting. I was cracking up at your "herb" reference...

Gracias.
