Tom douse not cover his back brake at junctions , He douse cover his headlamp over with a learner plate when it is cold a, and foggy. Tom pulls a MOD lol. Was that a GL2 about a 1952 . Toms mate now rides a moped see video on my channel [ road race ] lol.
@Blaesht yes i noticed that too , he was quite the perfect gentleman or so i thought.... until he left the old woman stood waiting at the crossing lol
It's a shame that 99 per cent of motorcyclists these days are like Tom's friend... Dangerous, reckless, careless... Only caring about getting from A to B as quickly as possible with no regard at all for other road users.
Lies! LIES! Today, "Tom's Friend" would be on an Aprilia, and beating the slappers off with an oily dipstick. Tom would be on some Chinese piece of crap, and hanging out with nerds on blogs all night.
@dangerdavenz Actually, I read somewhere that you need only stop unless they have actually stepped out into the road. Nevertheless, I would always stop just in-case.
Local rules are you are obliged to stop for someone 'obviously waiting to use it'. Throw the book at the dirty do-gooder I say! I going partying with his pal. Much more comedy. :-)
Here in my town there was a 19 year old that was killed while he was operating his motorcycle recklessly. He was on his 2008 Suzuki all the while popping wheelies, weaving in and out of traffic, and going over 80 MPH when he hit another car.
Excellent seeing this snapshot into the '60s. The roads were less congested and the older vehicles looked a treat (a Thames Trader ambulance!). Thanks for posting!
Toms a pussy, I'd take his Matchless and really ride it! Tom's friend knows how to have fun! and what's up with the "works keeper" that guy needs to take the stick out of his ass! or Ars... puffy Brits
@MonsterMozz Well you never know, Len Vale-Onslow rode the bike HE made to collect his telegram from the Queen, At the time i believe he was Britains oldest biker. An example for us all.
@MonsterMozz , unlike some who comment on youtube purely to wind people up I do not. Len V-O was an old school biker held in high regard by bikers all over Try finding him on the net there`s bound to be something there, In fact I`m going to do it myself Cheers ride safe mate
Interesting classic old vid.Gave me much to smile about. Much shown is now not legal or safe in LH drive countries. Get proper training! Learn to ride in the proper lane position with your 150 HP motorcycle. These shown are almost mopeds LOL.
5.10 gives a false signal, should have given his intention to turn right after the little rd on the right as a driver might have thought he was turning right there
toms mate has a much more developed riding style, tom is a square.. maybe he is content to receive his mates sloppy seconds on the brolly girls at the track! )
Tom keeps his bike in good working order does he? Then why does the throttle stick open while he is riding along with his right arm out? Mind you, my dads old Velocette does that every time the old Amal sucks a bit of rain in...or if there is an R in the month. Good, funny vid and great stunt riding by that kid.
@OW01racer Some of my old bikes from the 60s had a friction screw to keep the throttle where you left it for that very purpose. I had to use hand signals in my car test in 1972! but have not used them since
Nice bit of biking nostalgia! No Give Way lines at junctions either. When did they first appear? I remember the hand signal procedure though - I had to do my test like that on a BSA D7 Bantam. Imagine trying to do hand signals in today's traffic....
The shops where Tom went to buy a newspaper was either Rayners Lane or Eastcote, but the closing shot with Tom and girlfriend on a motor scooter is Wyld Way in Wembley, turning into Harrow Road towards Monks Park/ North Circular Road. Finally they end up on the Westway heading towards Paddington.
Looks like 35mm for the cinema, not TV as this was shot in the mid sixties, well before colour TV was introduced in the UK.
Think about it...Tom and his mate are now in their 60's!
Whitton Avenue. Rayners Lane. The Garage is now a Tesco Express. Eliot Drive Harrow. Not sure where the trading estate is, it could be Perivale. Woodheyes, Gresham and Bridge roads, these cut between The North Circular and Church Road Willesden. When he turns into this road from the NCR you get a glimpse of Ascots in the background. On Bridge Road there is Mitchell Brook Primary school that was used for location shots for Please Sir.
notice the lack of traffic lights at major junctions, i remember those

Is his girlfriend riding the 1st Vespa ever made?
=> As women weren't wearing pants, the engineers at Vespas had to make a motorcycle which would fit their needs.
I think the first Vespas had a manual gearbox.

The Cub is an A reg which was 63. Most of the others are form 555AAA which was 59-62. I'd say it was 63 or 64 at the latest.
Triumph riders are hooligans :-)
