Don't get me wrong. Bette Davis was I always thought a beautiful young woman, but not exactly in the classical sense. She always had such a regalness and such a fine deportment about her, that made her beauty extraordinary and memorable Personally, as an artist, I find that Bette Davis aged beautifully, and it is at this particular point in her career that I think she is the most beautiful, and her face has the most wonderful character! I love the way she looks in this movie! Those eyes!!!
Go to Google Maps and check out 792 West Temple Street in Los Angeles. Wow, has the intersection of Figueroa and Temple (where Edie's Bar was) changed!
@MissGarland18 Hahahahaha! Yeah, better than Avatar. Oh, God! Bette was a GREAT actress, I think, one of the greatest actresses of all time. ♥ Love her!
Bette Davis acting opposite her favorite star, bar none. She gets to deliver two over-the-top bad performances, instead of one. Who on Earth talks like this? It is certainly no known regional accent, and La Davis herself didn't speak this way until the early 40s, when she adopted this VERY peculiar speech pattern.
This, and A Stolen Life...two of her good films of many numerous ones, I know...but channels like TCM keep showing the same few ones of hers over and over at the same times, I'd like to see these two come on more often.
Haha! I love it how after that line "What a DUMP" from 'Beyond the Forest' became famous, she popped an homage to it into a few of her other films as a joke for her fans! - Thanks for the post! I really did love this film and the Great Bette Davis!
I laughed to tears, but what a good film to watch and what a great actress. It's a pitty Hollywood doesn't produce gems like this anylonger. Even the violence was subtle and there were no cliches.
LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! GREAT SCENE!!!!

If "A Stolen Life", Bette's earlier "twin" movie had ended in a different way, this would have been the clear sequal. Infact, in many ways it is.

This film looks good, Bette Davis has to be the most interesting star from the silverscreen. Those icy eyes could kill.
