  • Leave the boxes blank or check them both. When I do my census I write in "Human" for my race. You are a human appling for a job, your qualifications should be the only thing that matters. Your there to work not date. We have such a long way to go..................Love!

  • I would put female, then have a private talk with a contact in HR. The resume should reflect your experience and skill set, not your gender. The employment application should reflect your status as a female employee at that company. Beck to the private talk with the HR contact.

  • I once was told by a HR person to lie about certain holes in my resume. Never did it, will give problems when someone finds them.

Such things as marital status, race and gender don't belong on a resume.

Experience and education does and make it stand out. Only when you are hired and all the little legal round pegs must be put in their holes use your legal status, as several people have suggested.

  • Female*

  • u live in CA they can not fire you for being trans. put female. also you should get your dr to fill out a DL328 for you, (the form to change your name and your gender on your CA DL)

  • well if it's just a resume i wouldn't list it either way. on an application i'd put female if it asked and then just bring it up when all the paperwork is being taken care of so everything with social security and all is correct. you want your first impression to be "i'm a capable intelligent person" not "i'm a tranny."

  • based off of my experiences, I don't specify a sex on any job application, especially voluntary HR papers. Your anatomical sex and designation on a drivers license and birth certificate should not serve as factors in determining employment. However, if it is a legal requirement to specify, then use your current "legal" standing, it may be uncomfortable, but it allows you to explain your situation as well as remain legal/employed.

  • I wouldn't put it on there. I imagine seeing as it is a bigger city they might of had experience or at least know of someone who has. I would also look into gender marker change in Cali, I don't know what is involved, but it might not be too bad. You might not need srs to change your birth certificate and or drivers license. And that way you could say you are getting. Plus I don't know if you have but you should go down to the dmv for license state change and car reg cause it can be a fine.

  • Draw smiley faces in all the boxes where you don't want to put an answer.

  • Don't put your gender on your resume. I've never put my gender on my resume.

I was told in university that you never put your gender, age, or merital status on your resume.

  • agreed, the resume needs to remain completely objective and gender/race/status (age, or marital) free. The resume is the place for your experience and skills to shine and not be shadowed by labels

  • ohhh, well, if your old name is still on the license, then you have to put male

  • My new name is on my DL.....does that matter?

  • ohh, in that case...lol, i'm wondering about that myself in ways. it's a tough call. sometimes i put my old name on applications just so there is no intial confusion or if i don't want to worry about you know what.

or you could put female , or just ignore the box . i usually ignore it, say i forgot to fill it out on application. if you fully pass they'll mark it

  • just include the experience, but don't tell about the name unless a background check brings it up or they specifically ask about the trans thing
