In rural places, Drag Shows are the big event for most gaybars.

When I was a lot younger (and passing for eighteen), and living in the middle of nowhere, where there was absolutely nothing to do. It was fun to sneak in, but mostly kind of pitiful to watch. My cousins and I were all a foot taller than we should have been at that age, and snuck into all kinds of places, just to see if we could. Basically, though, it's Karaoke. I wish them well, but it's pretty depressing to see.
