  • allan watts have to say!!!that is a very bad!!dream!!!and we have to stop sleeping any more!!!!!!!

  • Wow I liked that

  • The music is too loud!!!

  • for all who are down on the music. turn your spot light off and turn on your flood light.

  • nice but danger philosophical idea!you know ther`s to much pain!in your dreams!that make it real!

  • Blah Blah Blah...there is no true content in his musings

  • @transfoby goodness grief... pay attention man!

  • What does Watts mean by the last sentence?

  • @Clonegreen that we could be experiencing the dream we forgot we were dreaming

  • funny, I hardly noticed the music :)

  • Anybody have a version without the insufferable music?

  • i hate bjork... totally distracting from watts

  • At least use music without lyrics. Shit, can't even hear Alan half the time.

  • Ok, I think whoever did this...posted this, might have done something as important as krishnamurti or alan or other dude with their lights turned on...you did your work boss, thank you, this REALLY made it easier for me to reach some folks I love very much.

  • the background noise aaaaaallways fucks it up unless its like purely ambiet

  • what song is this??

  • STUPID music!

  • Why are people laying music over Alan Watts lectures? Hmmm.

  • The music really drags this down. Mr. Watts ideas don't need backing music.

  • This should be sent to the head of every metaphysics department up and down the land. As Watts rightly says, you cant begin to understand your own metaphysical assumptions until you start to contrast them with that of another culture. Comparative philosophy should be the rule rather than the exception.

  • Who guards the guards?

Nobody, for there should be no such thing as a guard.

A reasonable person who comes to the realization that greed can only bring harm to himself and other human beings would arrive to the same conclusion.

  • @streetz23 Then the question simply becomes, "How does one guard, one's "reasonableness"," if one arrives to such a conclusion. What IS reasonable, if one's reason, does not shelter others from greed? By what means, may a reasonable person, protect the nature of this reason, from the hostilities birthed from, fallacy?

  • @RustyRedReaper If ones reason promotes greed, then it isn't really reason.

  • Here's the version without the music: watch?v=YKckH3EP8Ww

  • This is even closer it seems: watch?v=7GG8u6n_xUI#t=6m30s

  • This one's a sleeper....

217 favorites but only 133 ratings?

... the images of Pandora are extraordinary.

    Namaste Matthew

  • yeah this music was horrible

  • wow that dream part at the end was trippy

  • Oh my God, why didn't you just put Bjork without Alan Watts...

  • stop it with the music please....im trying to hear him

  • Thanks for this great video with Alan Watts, and I know you've probably heard this before, but Bjork really distracts, and quite frankly, ruins it!

  • yep great alan watts clip, but please no bjork or loud music because it ruins it

  • fuckin a.

  • I couldm't finish watching this, vocal from music too distracting. I'll find it elsewhere. Thanks for the effort tho.

  • I know Alan Watts has a lot of clout but i found this talk simplistic. Although it is true that a look at other cultures grounds your own perceptions, it is much more true that culture itself is the neotenizing force that prevents the individual from asking the right questions...

  • why did u spoil it with the annoying music?

  • totaly.agree...

  • Who watches the Watchmen?

  • This speech is amazing beyond words. I wish everyone could sit down and listen to this.

  • I wish everyone would sit down listen and be able to understand

  • couldn't agree with you more

  • Dude, you should make your own videos of Alan Watts without Lyrical background music. The kid that did this video is the shit. don't talk shit, just do your own thing. Make us proud brother.

  • well, u've got no videos to contribute... so why r u even complaining? u should be thankful...

  • Putting on commercial music to this assumes that the listener needs to be entertained because they are too shallow to listen to someone speaking without getting bored or need to have it's profundity rammed home by using the more artisitc end of commercial music (i.e. Bjork).

The visuals are superfluous as well, but at least they aren't competing to be heard.

  • once again, another comment from a "critic" with no work of his/her own. ps guess what? most people are shallow and mindless robots that do need something to keep them going through the message. personally i think his videos are well done and further the message of alan watts further than anyone you'll meet in real life... don't see you contributing at all, so one again, just be thankful.

  • there is a comand in his voice that makes me want to listen...and why shouldn't I? he speaks more truth than anyone i will meet in my lifetime..pay attention...what is Intelligence? we can't put a name on it..maybe intelligence= alan watts

  • I am a fan of bjork...when I want to hear bjork...I put on bjork...when i want to listen to alan watts...I dont put on bjork....

  • oh well, it beats putting John Coltrane in the background

  • it beats putting vanilla ice in the background... ice ice baby

  • *runs the moment bjork started playing*

  • whats wrong with these people complaining about the music? just put some headphones/earphones on, they don't even have to be very good. Out of every one of these Alan Watts videos, I've been able to clearly hear every single word he said. These are really great videos and the music just adds to the wonderful experience.

  • Either difficulty hearing or keeping the two tracks apart. Like you, I have yet to encounter a video of this kind where the music gets in the way, but i believe them when they say it does for them.

  • true

  • redliterocket, doesn't it bother you yet that almost no one can listen to this without having to work to try to make out what watts is saying?

  • seriously what's with the audio track? i wanted to listen to mr watts but couldn't make out what we being said on account of the relentless squealing

  • I thought the music was brilliant. Bjork added a loooot. I can't listen to him without music. And yeah, I like watching this again and again and rethinking it.

  • that music ruined a bad ass alan watts segment

  • Fantastic video. I'm a philosophy student, and have never heard this argument before, maybe I'm just naive, but I thought it was quite brilliant.

  • Why superimpose Bjork music w/ lyrics?

    Very distracting.

  • why do these idiots put music behind his words, as if they aren't enough?!

  • Watts words sometimes presume a kind of greatness that causes the listener to think "he is a brilliant singer, lets see how he sounds with some music behind him" and thus, people add music to his talks. However, not a fan of the choice this particular person choose, Phillip glass or some other classical seems to work great imo

  • Where can I find this audio without Bjork in the Background?

  • I was introduced to Alan Watts about six months ago by a friend. His words mean more to me than any lecture or sermon I've heard. I find myself repeating these videos and the few audio clips I have over and over again, not getting bored, but increasingly intrigued and affected.

Thank you, Redliterocket, for making these. This is one of the best.

  • Well put. Hence the old Buddhist saying, "When you meet the Buddha you will slay him."

  • there's a set of balls at 3:42 towards the left.

great video, alan watts is cool.

  • I agree, I love the bjork music but might be offputting to some... Oh well. Great vid!

  • this corny ass music waters down watts wisdom

  • @shrewrepair that's the problem with these dang uploaders, they always fill the need to put some type of music over watts to ruin the lecture....LAME

  • thanks for posting this, but would be way better without the music.

  • 2 people vocalising at the same time is too distracting....

please remove the music. If you still want music in the background... find some music with no vocals in it.

    :)

  • indeed!

  • Awesome. Alan Watts is amazing, and it was cool listening this to celestial bodies

couldve done without the Bjork though

  • Long live the bureaucracy!

  • i can't believe I never heard of Watts before... i've found a new role model

  • But no one should be your Role model but you you should be the leader and thinker you always could be

  • I disagree. Role models are important. You need somewhere to discover your values before you can practice them. It is not the destination, but finding someone you admire helps you immeasurably on your way to being the best person you can be.

  • bravo

  • Thought provoking and interesting. I liked the earth in a heart shape at the end. I don't think the earth is appreciated as much as it deserves to be these days in terms of how it gives life. Thanks for posting this. Peace. :)

  • You worked very hard to bring all these, Beautiful Informative mind expanding videos.

    Your Intent is clear.

    Thank You so very much....

    All Is, Full of Love.

  • Thank you for all your wonderful comments!

  • @BlazzingSun Bjork, all is full of love

  • please please please let me know where i can get this lecture without the music thank you

  • Wow, exremely intresting, and very thought provoking.

  • omg! please tell me what the very first song is... where do the vocals come from? i'd first heard a clip from that song some years year ago on a show called "beyond human senses" and the station that aired the show couldn't tell me what the song was. Please tell me!

  • Try "Bjork", All is full of love....

  • thanks... i found it...

  • bjork

  • what is the second song toward the end?

  • The second song is called Unravel by Bjork..

  • I wonder if I read Alan Watts and it changes my life.

  • I bet you Az won't get it.

  • great video!

  • Great composition!

  • Thank you for being a catalyst for whatever this beautiful force is. I'm not just talking about this video.

  • This a fascinating and mesmirizing video experience that enchants all the senses

  • Watts is talking to a bunch of IBM computer programmers, btw.

  • IBMers do need this. :)

  • "What are you going to do if you're in charge?" This question should be required vlogging.

  • Dream a good dream, get involved in manifesting it, then dream a good dream, get involved in manifesting it, then dream a good dream, then get involoved in manifesting it, then dream a good dream, get involved in manifesting it, then dream a good dream, then get involoved in manifesting it...
