Yeah I loved this and am really hoping we get a series or atleast a sequel. But then again I grew up with GI Joe. Screw Transformers and Voltron. Though Masters of the Universe is awesome, but I'd still take GI Joe anyday
I disagree, though I completely support your idea at the same time. I think this would make an excellent series. I think it would work if it was done in a similar vein of Cowboy Bebop. I completely agree with the guest star writers i.e. Jeph Loeb, Mark Millar. These shorts were so much better than the movie.
And a Niel Gaiman Thundercats would be...interesting.
dont even mention jeph loeb written gijoe tranformers or any other of the great 80's cartoons for he will ruin them like his comics bar public emines but don,t ever mention loeb
...I'm gonna take a stab at understanding the gibberish you just spewed out. Basicaly, you feel that Loeb's writting is an abomination akin to whatever babblery just fell out of your mind and splattered on the keyboard and ended up here.
Now my answer, yes. Loeb does indeed suck, but it can't be any worse than the shit hollywood shoves down our throats. In fact, I thin he MAY do a damn sight better. I would much rather Bendis, Remender, or (if god was good at all) a Frank Miller joe story
Dude, I just got done watching this and I was impressed. A comic book written movie that fucking Stephen Sommers should have fucking watched before doing live action GI JOE. you can put this up there with the HBO spawn series, Aeon Flux and the MAXX for mtv and maybe Trigun/Bebop anime's on adult swim. I gotta agree with you on the Masters of the Universe. That would kick so much fucking ass :)
In Japan, sinc the 70's kids action shows always showed people dying. Gatchaman being one of the most famous. But it was nerfed in the U.S. when it came as Battle of the Planets. Hopefully the movie next year will be good. Alex Ross comic art of it was cool
well i hope they do. But most animation that caters to a more mature audience nowadays dont get TV runs. Usually they get a limited direct to dvd release.
I was never a fan of G I Joe. Hated the campy 80s Tv series, the 90s one too. Spy troops was a joke and Sigma 6 felt like Power Rangers. Then came along this masterpiece. Animation rivaling some of the best anime movies in the world, sharp dialogue, excellent action sequences and story plot. Cobra Commander in this one is THE BEST. He actually feels like a real villain now. Menacing, evil, and murderous megalomaniac. Now i a new fan of G I Joe and following the IDW comic until the next tv series.
also like the fact that it isnt anime.... like the original was.. all western writers and animators... reminds me of the ultimate avangers... see for all you fuck heads say that anime is better suck a big fat donkey penis
yeah but killing stormshadow was a mistake cause the love hate relationship between snake-eyes and stromshadow was major role in every G.I. Joe storyline stromshadow even becomes part of gi joe from 88 to 00.. so its a little disapointing especially knowing that shadowstorm was always written as a superior fighter than snake-eyes but never had it in him to kill snake-eyes... and been known to save his ass in many cases
maybe if this gets turned into a show it can be a prequel to the events in the movie... cause this movie seem more like an awesome ending to a a show that can run for multiple seasons
think that it was very respectful of the source material... even though i dont agree some of the moves they made... like killing storm shadow... and not including characters like shipwreck in the main story (i know he was there but he didnt do anything.... would of liked to have seen Lady J, Dreadnaughts, Sgt. Slaughter, Dr Mindbender, Mutt, Tomax and Xamot but hey thats my personal opinion... for what it is it was badass! seeing the red and blue tracers on the bullets put a smile on my face
I understand and am aware of that. I am referring to the posted review in which Browncoat Eric thinks this is what a cartoon for children seven and older should be.
(I was mistaken in my original comment when I said children under 7)

I agree on your opinion on kids shows. You should look up Exo-squad.
Wouldn't want to see Voltron since the uncut version has already been released on dvd as Golion.

Well to be fare they only had 60 minutes. So to squeeze in all those characters in more then cameo roles wouldn't really be possible.
blowshimselfupdude 2 years ago
This should be a children's cartoon? I liked it quite a bit, but I think there was far too much blood and violence for children under 7.

This rendition was intended for more mature audiences, primarily fans following the series since the 80's I believe.
