The plot you mean? If it's the same plot as the opera it's based on (which from this song I think it is) it's set in ancient times and concerns a forbidden romance between an Egyptian General and an Ethiopian slave girl.

Close, though, because Ethiopia still has the Nile running through it, like Egypt and Nubia/Sudan do, so theoretically, it COULD have been Ethiopia, had Verdi or Elton John/Tim Rice decided to make it that.

I wish I got to see the broadway version... but I suppose a close second was BEING in my school's version... AND THEN... HEATHER HEADLEY CAME TO TALK TO US!!! GAHHHH!!!!!! Apparently a freshman's (not even involved in Theatre, at that) dad went to college with her or something like that. The entire experience was COMPLETELY mind-blowing, and I'd perform in Aida every day for the rest of my life if I had the chance! I think just going into the performing arts someday is a close second...

Written in the Stars is my favorite song in Aida to listen to on the soundtrack. Not Me was my favorite to listen from our cast, The Gods Love Nubia was my favorite to sing, Dance of the Robe was my favorite to dance to, and My Strongest Suit was my favorite to watch everything just happen.

and it's very, VERY true about the five fans out there, haha. Aida is SUCH a fantastic musical, it shouldn't be kept as in the dark as it has been, but the shows that have happened make up for its almost nonexistence in many people's eyes.
