  • In Georgia, newer guide signs use Hwy Gothic D. I'd favor this over Clearview anyday! This is what other states should have done (perhaps).

  • love ATL freeways. PHX freeways are the best IMO. Houston"s are overdone, non-uniform

  • were you going to Mall of GA? My house is not far from it. Although the closest exit to I-85 is exit 111. I am in LA now but boy do I miss GA a lot. A lot less traffic.

Freeways in GA is a lot better than in LA.

  • I have driven on I-85 before when i entered Alanta

  • See That Driving Any 12 Hours To Atlanta From Orlando

  • it's an overlooked city due to how small Charleston's city population is, versus other small and mid-size cities. Finally, you'd really like the bridges over the Elk and Kanawha Rivers, but especially you'd enjoy driving over the I-64 bridges just slightly to the east and west of Charleston(my favorite bridge being on I-64 east of Charleston). Sorry I got sidetracked so much, but I liked this I-85 vid too. Looking forward to seeing what the new HOT lanes are like, once they open!

  • I actually agree with the person who mentioned this song reminded him of Jamiroquai, since I felt the same way listening to it. Over the years, you've always come up with great song choices for your vids!

Dunno why I started to think about this while watching this, but the more I think about it, I think you'd enjoy filming the freeways(I-64, I-77, I-79, and US 119) going through Charleston, WV. The freeways in that city always have reminded me of both Pittsburgh and Chattanooga, (cont'd)

  • @prfsnlwannabe Thanks! I've driven those WV Freeways many times, just have not filmed them....yet

  • @Freewayjim Ah, okay. Thanks for answering my question, since I haven't seen any of the major people who film freeway videos for youtube do one for the Charleston, WV area. I certainly bet someone will eventually make one for its freeways, and at least for I-64....

  • @prfsnlwannabe I hope to!

  • @prfsnlwannabe Um, I filmed WV in late-October of last year and I have 2 freeway videos of Charleston up.

  • That's a lot of multi-county suburban sprawl :)

  • I always find great music thanks to your videos! Thank you!

  • @TailsPrower88 Thanks, glad you enjoy it!

  • Nice "kick-ass" video, Jim. ;-) It was good GDOT added that lane on I-85 northbound, for Buford Drive. It was a clusterpluck in that area, because folks don't know how to merge properly.

  • @Bryant5493 Thank you and agreed!

  • Omg look at that traffic on the other side...never knew Atlanta was like that..well I did but I've forgotten!

  • YOu make my commute look fun!

  • @Gwinneco It's a nice ride when traffic moves, that's for sure.

  • @4:24 wtf happened there? (tire tracks + truck on shoulder)

    Nice video *****

    I subbed ;) :D

  • @keokiracerhalsteren Thank you!

  • This video is going straight to the favorites list, simply for it being one of my top 3 or 4 favorite urban freeways in the country. Curves, hills, lots of lanes and lots of traffic. Out of all the freeways in Atlanta, I'd say this one feels most reminiscent of what you'd find throughout much of Orange County (CA). In fact, I'd like to compare it to I-5 in South/Central Orange County, especially because both freeways feature collector/distributor lanes.

  • @FreewayBrent Thanks, and Interesting points, this is probably my favorite freeway in the ATL too.

  • damn must have missed this one. never showed up on my subscriptions video list . anyways thats my kind of freeway , thanks for the ride

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 You'd definitely enjoy driving this one, thanks.

  • Thank you your great videos!

  • @jani71294 Glad you enjoy them.

  • Ok, so it always makes me smile when you post a video with a song I think no one else listened to. Your music taste always makes me happy - its almost scary how alike our taste in music is!

PS. You are seriously the best!

    Dustin :)

  • @the905sDW Thank you, I greatly appreciate that. I also thought nobody else would know this one :)

  • @Freewayjim There are such rare songs I like, that every now and then only a few people on this earth listen to as well. Anything house on Salted, NRK, Defected, OM, Hollo, or alot of tunes from Beatport or Traxsource.

  • @the905sDW Got this from the Chicago Afterdark CD, good stuff!

  • @Freewayjim Awesome! Do you ever take music requests for your videos?

  • @the905sDW Not usually because the variables of the footage tend to dictate what I use, sometimes it can taker over an hour of testing to find the right song (This one thankfully was the first attempt), It's something I do on "feel". HOWEVER, if you want to send me a list of a few tunes that you think might work I'll check them out, no promises on if and when I'd use them but I might like them just the same.

  • @Freewayjim Your tunes are amazing no matter what so no sweat. I know matching a song to a mood on video is not easy. Here are a few:

    • Sun Will Shine (Simon Grey Remix) by Blak Beat Niks

    • Prophecy (Original Mix) by Simon Grey on RF Presents Simon Grey

    • Thinking of You (Simon grey Nu Salsa Mix) by Simon Grey on RF Presents Simon Grey

    • Butterflies (Feat. Dyanna Fear) by Reel People on Second Guess

    • Cups (Salt City Orchestra Vertical Bacon Vocal) by Underworld

    • Here We Go by Yam Who?

  • @the905sDW I was thinking more along the lines of a private message but that's cool :) I'll check these out, thank you!

  • great song, the music reminds me a little of Jamaroquai. Super drive

  • @0marigolds Thank you and good call with the Jamiroquai comparison.

  • Who would dislike this>?

  • Great job. You have a few powerlines

  • @interstateruler Thanks, yes we do have a few :)

  • Great video and catchy song.

  • @cadmusdixon92 Thank you!

  • Spaghetti Junction looks like nothing compared to the High Five

  • Spaghetti Junction looks like nothing compared to the High Five

  • Spaghetti Junction looks like nothing compared to the High Five

  • @MrMbtaguy Not many interchanges do.

  • One helluva ride, Jim! Great job as always.

  • @georgiaroadgeek Thank you sir!

  • I love your vids F.J. I live in Atlanta. I think I-285 should be a collecter/distributer system all the way around it. We need to catch up with Texas. What are your views on that?

  • @skgw2010 Thank you, I would agree with that and I think GDOT is thinking that way too based on the reconstruction of the Memorial Drive interchange on the east side and the Airport Runway Tunnel, both are C/D lane ready.

  • I love the video but I dont like leaving the city I like to keep going south because my grandparents live in FL

  • Great Video!

  • @casmatori Thank you!

  • 110 Million seems a lot of money for converting it to HOT lanes.

  • @danie123182 Agreed!, but that's what the website stated

  • @danie123182

Yeah I checked the site you showed.

On something somewhat related. They put HOT lanes on I-394 and I-35-W here in Minneapolis for about 18 Million.

  • A pleasure to see something from the Atlanta freeways again! I'm surprised how fast 85 drops from 20 to 4 lanes. Only a couple of miles.

  • @aswchris Yes, it's less than 10 miles, there are plans to widen it to 6 lanes all the way to the SC border, many of the overpasses have already been replaced along the way.

  • My favorite stretch of freeway in the country! I've always loved this drive coming into the city. Great photo in the intro, too! Love the contrast between the old and new versions of 85. Adding this to my favorites for sure.

  • @CosmoPhotography Thanks, when I drive it I sometimes wonder what folks driving in to the area seeing it for the first time think, it is pretty impressive.

  • Very funky soundtrack, nice video-- when Atlanta gets HOT it'll be interesting to see how the traffic flow is impacted.

  • @FreewayTitan Thanks, Yeah I have mixed feelings about the HOT lanes being effective, we'll see.

  • I used to run the first part of this from the Brookwood split to the Perimeter, then bail Outer to N. Peachtree.

It looks like some driving habits haven't changed.

  • @zarchasmpgmr That was a Sunday afternoon but yeah, it is a typical sampling of ATL driving habits :)

  • This is the exact route I take to get home from "in the city". LOL

I live about 2 miles from Coolray Field.

    Great vid as usual Jim!

  • @MossbergSlim313 Thank you!

  • Nice video. I can't wait to see what it'll look like when the HOT lanes project is finished.

  • @FreewayAndrew Thanks Andrew but the HOT lanes won't change what it looks like at all.

  • Another fantastic ride Jim! Thanks!

  • @jenzeppelin Thank you!
