  • My Dad passed away today, this song is so befitting, he taught me so much about life, I have fond memories of our adventures. Love you Dad, thanks for everything and safe journey where ever your spirit wanders.

  • A Irish fellow from County Cork showed me this.. Its such a meaningful song.. I miss my old man.

  • The man I called Daddy died a few months ago he was really my maternal grandfather but he was more father to me than my own parents were. I miss my Daddy its hard to believe I will not talk to him again and he wont call me just to see how I am. I keep expecting to wake up to him watching the news and making pancakes.

  • Rest in peace Dad

  • My father took a heat attack 6weeks ago!! He`s doing fine now but when you here songs like this it just brings back what you could miss when he go`s!!!! But i`ll not miss what he gave me. Love him.

  • how could you dislike this song - its not as if its controversial

  • Written by their long time producer, Phil Coulter. Just love this song.

  • If you can listen to this without getting a lump in your throat you haven't got any feelings I am posting this for Tony Collins. RIP.

  • Love this song. I like to dedicate it to my own father who died 21 years ago and to the Dutch actor Ton van Duinhoven who died yesterday.

  • Thank you for sharing that lads: Our father.Daniel O'NEILL. - 18.05.1918. a youthfull 92 yo.Entered eternal life .10.06.2010. Suddenly, after a short illness with his family at his side. Dearly loved husband of Ellie (Mary Ellen).64 ½ years married. Loved and respected by us all.

  • give us finbar any day

  • beautiful song, i lost me da and everytime i hear this song i fondly remember him with a tear in me eye, R.I.P da sadly missed. great lyrics

  • Maybe it's because he signed a cassette tape for my 21st birthday a few years ago ;-) I think Finbarr had more vocal range to, a melancholic and melodramatic aspect to his voice that was perfect for some of these songs like stealaway for example!

  • @sherp2u1 Aww but Eddie has always song Steal Away!

  • Thanks, I prefer his voice to be honest!

  • @sherp2u1 Really? I love the way he plays all his instruments but I think all of these 3 are way better singers but that is just my opinion.

  • Where is Finbar?

  • @sherp2u1 Finbarr has not toured with his brothers since 1995.

  • just read your note aberafan sincere sympathy. youy've probabaly already been to the concert but what I want to say now is that although my "old man " died over forty years ago when i was 16 I still miss him but he live son in the songs and stories I still share with my brother and sisters, say a prayer for your father, sing a song for him, tell a story about him keep his memory alive, God Bless.

  • i miss my dad so much

  • 1983 my dad died and Terry Wogan played this on radio 2 one morning shortly after, fair play to him

  • when was this filmed?

  • see them in April they are amazing the best.

    i love this song.

  • The first time I heard this song was in the Lower Deck in Dublin, the singer was Patsy Watchorn and it hit me like a ton of bricks, I wasn't prepared for it and I cried my eyes out. My Old Man has been gone 25years but he was right there beside me that night when I heard the song for the first time in Dublin. The Fureys are so genuine and sincere and deliver this song beautifully, they are a truly gifted bunch and great ambassadors for Irish Folk Music.

  • I hear you. Very well said.

  • Really great Song. Written by Phil Coulter.

  • Anyone who has lost their dad will surely understand and love this song

  • I went to see this live, so lovely this does not do it justice. Such nice people, God Bless

  • very moving....

  • Absolutly wonderful song
