  • but, will it blend?

  • Hey you can actually make it play a tune like that you know. Its a lot more advanced, but you should try it. Use the color sensor and different color dots instead of the monotone you have there ,spaced apart at different intervals. You can start by playing marry had a little lamb which is only 3 notes. I challenge you! Thumbs up to force him to do this challenge

  • The disc isn't spinning the same speed .. it's slowing down, when reading the track closer to the end..but interesting model anyway ...

  • Ну и что это за хрень?

  • И че дальше?

  • Nice!

  • coooel :D

    nice idea

  • Cool, the black or white is the frequency of the sound. Like a record player. =)

  • so does it actually put the data on to the computer?

  • how many bytes per second?

  • nice, but the head should move across the disk on rail, not on a swinging singular arm. Its still nice though =]

  • when do you expect to have a NTX mindstorm pc

    i would buy it.

  • How did you make that disc?

  • I used Inkscape to draw it, printed on a gross paper and cut it carefully.

  • What is Inkscape?

  • its a open source vector drawing software

  • @widemos wtf u said a gross paper that means a disgusting paper

  • It makes a beep when reads a black square, longer on longer pits. It display 1s and 0s on the screen.

  • Does it play sound or something? My computer sound is broken.

I might make one of these since there's an NXT sitting next to me on a ledge :)

  • yes, It does play a little sound

  • @Smozzman same lol

  • This model is incorrect, because there is only one continuous spiral track on CD.

  • You are right, I didn't expend too much time on it.

  • I made something similar... It read a disk (Only space for a few bytes though XD) and printed it as text on the display.

How did you make those "CD"'s? I just cut mine of paper.

  • c'mon !

try to make a password machine with it.

when it reads for example 10010110

    then -> something happens

  • Looks like the old music player of the 1960s where by those big CDs are spun on turntables n there is a needle in contact wif it...

Really cool idea btw! For a much longer song, mayb u can use a conveyor belt system n the light sensor be movable on a linear motion instead of circular motion like this one

  • you mean a record player turntable or phonograph

  • neat!bxd

  • Wow! Using this model, you can actually produce music with it! I gotta mess with the code so I can make me own music!

  • Wow. This is something I had never seen using the NXT system. Quite original.
