@NiqueJB its a legionary cohort that you can muster in certain provinces..when in campaing you upgrade your barracks to the highest level and go through Marian reforms..and these legionaries are monsters XD btw..i'm playing this mod(almost all versions) for about 2 years...cannot get enough of it...

i am having a problem!!! i played SPQR 7.0 mod with july and i conquered rome but i am not able to train legions at all not even pretorians !!! please anyone help me

@slabusan in order for you to train legions you have to destroy carthage and own all of there land and have an imperial palace in italy ........OHH and for the pretorians only the senate can get them its more historically accurate because they would proctect the city of rome .........

Not true. There are 2 settings beyond "normal," and each one doubles the number of units on the screen and quadruples the total ammunition of each ranged unit. RTW and M2TW can tax your system pretty hard. True, RTW did come out in '03, but I can run New Vegas at decent graphics settings with no problem compared to something like this.

Your first line of cohorts is long to limit the enemies ability to flank. Your second line of reserve cohorts are evenly spaced with emphasis in protecting your center just in case your front lines start to collapse in the center. Triarii should be your third line, being you veterans. You have them positioned with emphasis on your rear flanks. That way if the enemy flanks with cavalry, their spears can move to intercept. Brilliant use of your cavalry though.

I don't quite understand your tactics. Your front line too short. Although you had 2 lines behind your first, your squared formation is highly vulnerable to flanking. Although you won, it is visible that the enemies infantry was beginning to wrap around your front lines and engage your sides. It is not just about winning, but it is more about winning with minimal casualties. Try this; 1. Long line of legionaires 2. 3-4 reserve cohorts 3. 3 cohorts of Triarii. To be continued...

cool battle. My computer used to not be able to do these kind of battles but i adjusted the settings and now i have played a battle with every unit consisting of 242 men, and the same with the computer! It was an apocoliptic battle, and I won!

You could have won this much faster. You dont persue your enemy until the battle is over and especially not with infantry. Plus I saw you displaced some of your cavalry when they had the enemy surrounded. Nice battle thou.

@lord0strzo Pursuing a routing enemy has benefits. It gains extra experience for your troops, it whittles down the enemy numbers enough to either rout them completely on the campaign map or at least have them significantly weakened if they regroup. You can target problematic heavy infrantry while they're routing so that if the enemy do regroup their more elite troops will be depleted. You can also affect the enemy general's traits and command (if he survives) by causing him heavier losses.

But if you like little tactical battles and a slow system, you should install RTR ;)

You must go in Options > Graphics Options.

There you put the "Unit Size" to "Huge"

Save the settings and start a battle.

Have fun.
