They are the most disciplined, loyal, moral people I've ever known. Please educate yourself, the new mormons called LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints) have been against polygamy for over 100 years. The old fundamentalist mormons (very small number) are for polygamy.

  • @urbachmilf69 it's true, there are many who are atheists without having a shred of understanding why they are so. I'd sooner have intelligent religious people rather than dumb atheists who are, in fact, just nihilists, and live in denial of themselves and the world around them. But the actual truth is far away from the biblical one, and, although faith offers comfort for many, it will sadly have less and less room to exist in the future.

The complexity of life is marvelous and wonderful, and empirically needs no creator, other than the matter we're all made of - from the remains of ancient stars. How wonderful this story of creation is- the only thing is, it's real, demonstrable and factual. Faith only seeds doubt in those with sufficient intelligence to see the inherent flaws...

But, there is a minority who are atheists because they have strong reasons behind it, and those are not ignorant at all. The only assumption I dare to make is that we have different views of the world.

The fundamental problem with Atheism is the simple fact that it is useless. It helps no one and serves no one but the individual. Most atheists are not militant, and some still attend the churches in which they were born in, but they don't rely on religion to explain the world around them. I come from a poor country, not the US, and have never relied on faith to get me through the day.

Most simply don't have faith in a god. Sorry if you're not a creationist, but most religions imply one form or another of intelligent design or creation.

  • @urbachmilf69 consider this: generally, if you abandon mystical explanations for the world, you embrace the scientific ones. so, beyond unity through faith, you can have unity through our DNA, through the chemistry of life, down to the last carbon atom. this sort of mentality encourages you to learn and, to some, it instills a feeling of unity with everything around you, because we are all, indeed connected - just not by divine means. Not useless at all, I would say.

Science tells us exactly what embryos and fetuses are---individual humans. It would make sense if atheists were the most vocal pro-life people, given the scientific proof of individual human life, but they aren't, because they can't bring themselves to be non-PC. They pick and choose which evidence to act upon.

Meaning if a state school wants prayer in their school, Feds cannot come in and take a nonbeliever side, they have no right to take side and intervene.

You are correct that the 10th Amendment says some rights are reserved for the States. You are incorrect in assuming this means Congress has no control over them. States may choose to ignore the Highway act... if they don't want any federal money for highways. Same with those other laws and thousands of others. No state had made that choice.

Also it clearly says "Congress shall make NO law RESPECTING an establishment of religion" The key is the word respecting, ie: dealing with, regarding. So congress shall make no law regarding a religious institution. So if a congress has no say in that issue, it is reserved to the states (10th ammendmend).

This why the State Religion of Maryland is no longer Roman Catholicism. And why my state legislature may not take my tax money and pay for religious indoctrination in public schools. And why the eight states whose constitutions prohibit atheists from holding office have had those prohibitions ruled unenforceable by the Supreme Court.

State schools CANNOT force anyone to pray/adop a religion, however they can voluntarly adopt a religious that they advertise, post banners etc, because it is NOT a federal institution, it is a state institution and as long as it is not forcing anyone to do anything, its all fine.

    The constitution is clear: the government shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion. If a state allows or forces prayer in its name, it's establishing religion. Schools are public, so it's unconstitutional.

  • I wish people would learn just what agnostic and Atheist mean... Firstly, they are not mutually exclusive. I'm an Agnostic Atheist. Agnostic deals with knowing, or rather not knowing. Atheism deals with not believing. An Agnostic Atheist does not believe in a God and, as God is an unprovable concept, must also be Agnostic because there is no way to know for sure. Techically you should be agnostic to all things that cannot be shown to be true.

  • It is very tempting to move to USA for the year round warm weather. And not to mention the fact that taxes are waaaaaay less in USA. After seeing all these youtube videos about religion I think I might pass on the idea. Where I live not many people are religious, or religious to the extend of believing everything in the bible and having a hard on for Jesus. I think I would get too annoyed living in a Religious country....especially hearing that God Bless America song, most hypocritical song ever

USA took on Japan and Germany in WW2 and the war was done in 4 years. Iraq and Afghanistan ( two 3rd world countries) went on for 10 years...and they are still in Afghanistan...something is very very wrong with that. How do you not question the motives there.

In WWII the USA was receiving many thousands of casualties every month in extremely heavy fighting. In Afghanastan, there are about 20-30 thousand insurgents who dress like civilians and plant bombs on the roads and only shoot at you when they are pretty sure they will be able to get away. How can you have a 'fast' war under such circumstances?

I am much more fascinated with the Fundamentalist beliefs, as it was the religion of my ancestors, not the modern farce that is slowly turning into the Community of Christ (RLDS). I definitely recall my LDS Grandfather teaching me about the origins of black people through the curse of Cain. Jeffs sermons brought back those memories

Joseph Smith was an abolitionist, look it up. Blacks aren't cursed, they are descendants of Cain.
