If you have your head on your shoulders and your good with money you can come out on top and do good with your life from then on. I was lucky and had a very honest recruiter and allowed me out without a hassle because he promised me 0231 and he simply couldn't deliver on his promises. Not that after you DEP in you have to go. but they can hassle you about it and try to scare you into it. You dont have to leave until you get on the bus to be shipped out.

Really, the only things exluded from me are pilot(bad eyesight) and maybe something with a top secret clearance(past drug use). There's also the issue of going enlisted or officer, although since I plan to be career I think officer would be better. Anyone have advice or know where I can go to sort these options out?
The dillema? I can't decide which branch and MOS to choose. There are literally so many interesting options and I don't know where to begin. AF Air Crew? I love flying and apparently you get to visit many locations(and many bars with exotic women). Fleet command? Being in charge of parts or an entire vessel would be an amazing responisiblity. I also love physics and electronics so maybe a nuclear or computer tech? Then again my background and smarts may suit me for Army Intel or Psy Ops.

Not everyone is a doctor or lawyer. I myself didn't want to go to college. I didn't want to work in office or type on computers all day. I don't do that after getting out of the military. I'm didn't want to waste peoples money or my own money by going to college. I didn't feel "smart" enough to graduate. SO.......I didn't go. ask a recruiter. most likely there are waiver forms. if you have a GED, you may have a chance. again, talk to a recruiter, go to the military websites and contact a recruiter, find a recruiting office, etc.
If you have your GED, yes. if you don't have a GED, and can score a 50 or higher on the ASVAB, the army has a GED prep school that you can attend, but you have to enlist prior to attending.

I don't believe it will mean anything. You can tell them you took it, but they will make you take it again on their computers in their facility. They will pretty much view the test you took in high school as a practice test only.

I got a 88 and im going in for UH-60 Helicopter Repairer for a few years before i apply for flight school, i wanna go back and retake the ASVAB in a wile after some studying so i can get in the top section (93-99), no reason in particular, i jus wanna be up there, my grades were shit in highschool but that cuz i didnt apply myself because i got bored most of the time :P yes, i was stupid, i know. but whatever, MEPS is in 5 days, then basic training in May after this semester ends at college =)

unfortunately you might have to take the asvab again because they expire in two years I believe, but that's a long time to improve your scores. About getting in the AF academy, good luck.

personally I thought it was easy.. I went in 2 times and had lunch with him once and I go to meps tomarrow.. I took the asvab in high school and scored a 89, easy as shit, but ya I'm on my way to the Marines to be a Networking Manager, and that is signed into my contract.
Hes right its very difficult and takes a long time to get into the military. The ASVAB was easy as pie though, I got a 93 on it which they told me is in the top 1% bracket.
I had to get a credit weiver to continue my enlistment since in 2000 i decided not to pay my 200 credit card bill. So I had to set up a payment plan and write a letter to my recruiters boss.
My score on the ASVAB plus my associated from a military college helped me get in. Tough a heck. I go to meps on september 11th, 2008

Hey all, I'm a marine poole already DEPPED and such. The asvab honestly isnt as bad as what they put out. A 50 is the average score and I didnt even study for it and got a 61. And that gives me a wide range of jobs.
95 and I got an 84 and I didnt study. Just make sure you know basic algebra and can comprehend word problems sorta quick and youll be good. The hardest part is the automotive. I just got back from the MEPs center last week.

If you got A B honor roll in high school then it will be cake. If you got Cs then you should expect 30-50 but if you got Ds or Fs then you better study. I just took mine at the MEPs center and this is from what i witnessed personally out of the hundreds of people there.

HI, Im an AF Dep right now so I can answer Air Force questions. On the AFQT the highest score you have to get to have all jobs available to you is a 72. and yes each section is timed. Between the Army and the Air Force all I can say is the Air Force does offer more in lifestyle compared to the Army. But If you do decided to go air force you will be waiting on the Dep program for a good while. I enlisted back in June and I don't leave for basic until January 2nd.

you shoukld deff study for the math awell with the english cuz it will determine ur AFQT which will show if ur are able to even enlist in the military. each branch has its own afqt but u wanna shoot as high as you can for it bro i got a bad score and trying to study to retake it but i wont go inless im ready dnt let them force you or sell you a contract if u wanna go then u go on ur terms not thiers what branch are you going for and what do you what out of the military ????

ask a recruiter. most likely there are waiver forms. if you have a GED, you may have a chance. again, talk to a recruiter, go to the military websites and contact a recruiter, find a recruiting office, etc.

If you have your GED, yes. if you don't have a GED, and can score a 50 or higher on the ASVAB, the army has a GED prep school that you can attend, but you have to enlist prior to attending.

I don't believe it will mean anything. You can tell them you took it, but they will make you take it again on their computers in their facility. They will pretty much view the test you took in high school as a practice test only.

I got a 88 and im going in for UH-60 Helicopter Repairer for a few years before i apply for flight school, i wanna go back and retake the ASVAB in a wile after some studying so i can get in the top section (93-99), no reason in particular, i jus wanna be up there, my grades were shit in highschool but that cuz i didnt apply myself because i got bored most of the time :P yes, i was stupid, i know. but whatever, MEPS is in 5 days, then basic training in May after this semester ends at college =)

Hes right its very difficult and takes a long time to get into the military. The ASVAB was easy as pie though, I got a 93 on it which they told me is in the top 1% bracket.
I had to get a credit weiver to continue my enlistment since in 2000 i decided not to pay my 200 credit card bill. So I had to set up a payment plan and write a letter to my recruiters boss.
My score on the ASVAB plus my associated from a military college helped me get in. Tough a heck. I go to meps on september 11th, 2008

Hey all, I'm a marine poole already DEPPED and such. The asvab honestly isnt as bad as what they put out. A 50 is the average score and I didnt even study for it and got a 61. And that gives me a wide range of jobs.

95 and I got an 84 and I didnt study. Just make sure you know basic algebra and can comprehend word problems sorta quick and youll be good. The hardest part is the automotive. I just got back from the MEPs center last week.

If you got A B honor roll in high school then it will be cake. If you got Cs then you should expect 30-50 but if you got Ds or Fs then you better study. I just took mine at the MEPs center and this is from what i witnessed personally out of the hundreds of people there.

HI, Im an AF Dep right now so I can answer Air Force questions. On the AFQT the highest score you have to get to have all jobs available to you is a 72. and yes each section is timed. Between the Army and the Air Force all I can say is the Air Force does offer more in lifestyle compared to the Army. But If you do decided to go air force you will be waiting on the Dep program for a good while. I enlisted back in June and I don't leave for basic until January 2nd.
