  • well the last time they were fed and every other feed acts as a reinforcer. Your 13 second statement is a crock of shit lol.

  • @11thhourreprieve enough lets see this video for over 2mins he stuff is a crock of shit he praobley doesnt feed em aand there in small tank XD

  • oscars have a memory of 13 seconds so if u want them yo grow fast you feed them every few hours i do not recommend this because ut will affect water quality

  • @zimbabwecornchip

And I think you know nothing of fish. As a breeder and keeper of many species of fish myself, I can tell you fish have memories spanning months to years. Their are studies into fish memory, and myths like 'a goldfish has a three second memory' are untrue. Seriously, google fish memory studies... hell, even mythbusters did a experiment with fish and memory, and had them recalling tricks for weeks at a time.

Research things, don't spout off myths. It just spreads idiocy.

  • @tambostorm well acctually they do not remember insignifigant things like the last time they were fed so it will work and it really does ive had my oscars for three months and their pushing adult size i got them as babies they are very happy in there 150 gallon home so you think before you come on youtube and tell evryone what you learned on the internet "google" and whatched on tv.

  • @zimbabwecornchip

Excuse me? Not true at all. I am a fish keeper and breeder, something I have done for over 15 years. YOU have had YOUR oscars for 3 months. I have had mine for ten years, spawned them multiple times and even had international buyers purchasing my fry. Recommending to feed an oscar every few hours as you do is stupid, it will constipate the fish. YOU seem to be the one relying on google, or worse yet, making it up as you go.

  • @zimbabwecornchip

And that said, yes oscars should be fed multiple times a day to grow fast, but what you recommend is going to cause problems. If the fish's intestinal tract does not empty between meals, problems can arise especially while young.

Training fish should be counted as a meal if food is to be used as the reward.

  • @tambostorm good point however this problem does not occur if you give a few hours inbetween

  • @zimbabwecornchip that's the most stupid thing I've heard. My oscars used to go nuts, get excited like little puppies, every time I got up off the settee. Obviously they hoped I was going to feed them based on past experiences. Considering I may have been sat for 30 minutes I think they remember longer than 13 seconds...

  • @11thhourreprieve yeah im stupid they learn through constant repitition and plus that is there personality my oscars do that too no matter what if i approach the glass they go nuts ok they are very personable fish they remember signifigant things like faces and people not the last time they ate they dont know by way of time they cant read clocks and what the fuck is a setee you obviously dont know what your talkind about so dont be a youtube troll

  • @zimbabwecornchip I didn't say you were stupid, what u said was stupid.me a youtube troll? al I did was state facts. A settee is a wide chair in the living room you can fit 3 ppl on. repetition isn't the key thing with food reward based learning. repetition only really plays a part when learning things like playing guitar or piano. with fish it's all about triggers, response, behaviour and reward. they rcognise faces but only ones that feed them will trigger any significant response

  • @11thhourreprieve exactly my point triggers not the last time they ate

  • u trained ur fish? o_o woooow LOLL

  • I thought fish only had a memory of about 3 seconds.... I guess these smart fish proved me wrong :P

  • That is for goldfish which is not trueby the way. These are the smartest fresh water fish in the world and chase you around the tank for food.

  • its not fold goldfish either buddy, thats a myth too

  • Read my comment throughly before commenting please. As i said "That is for gold fish which is not true by the way"

  • These are very smart fish! Very cool to see this! :)

  • i want to train my oscars to do that and i dont know how they r about 2'' and 1.5'' a lil help here

  • The best way to train Oscars is using the R2 Fish School kit. Check out the r2fishschool web site.

  • y would u be so mean 2 poke ur beautiful fish with that pole???

  • hes not hes got food on the end of it, they swim to grab the food

  • the idea is after doing it alot they will learn to do that when they want food. but if you dont feed them after they have swam through they wont do it anymore

  • Our Cichlids may have been a bit easier than our Goldfish to train, if for no other reason than they are more motivated by the food reward!

    --Dean

  • Nice work man, are the Cichlids easier to train than the Goldfish?

  • Somewhat. It depends really of what kind of Goldfish you have. The cheap Koi goldfish are easy. But the ones with the really weird eyes or oddly shape kinds are somewhat hard. I heard its because they can't swim or see well.

I have three Cichlids. They are great fish, eager to please. I got them to jump out of the water on command and let me touch them without stressing them.

  • They're going to need a much larger hoop by the time they're full grown.

  • cute :)
