  • so many 90s beats were so simple but yet so much better.

  • @OfficialMOE Thats exactly what it was, simpler beats with typically better lyrics both in content and in delivery style(s).

  • A thing of beauty. Makes me feel old when he says "...back in the 09's..."

I love this track and enjoyed seeing it put together, so thanks for that.

  • damn such a lazy fuck he sampled Q-tip drums drums

but out of that hes amasingly creative and unique

  • @worldcreations You cant be serious with that comment

  • @getmajor

i gotta say that i am serious

    but

    your still right lol

  • I loved making beats with the SP and 950. Beats came out gritty and it was simple. I love my MPC but it doesnt compare to what the SP did even though the MPC has more features. lol Yes classic hip hop right here.

  • Comment removed

  • The genesis!!! A true classic

  • till this day dead president is one of the iilest hip hop beats off all time......im gonna cry because i miss real hip hop and now its all about braggin....only a couple of real niggas left in the game......

  • Dilla drums...interesting

  • whats the grey/silver system with the sliders that you add the drums and voice. thanks

  • very good shit...

  • YES GET CAMP LO IN THERE!!!!

  • "yeah i sampled your voice, you were using it wrong! you made it a hot line, i made it a hot song! and you didn't get coin, nigga, you was getting plugged then. and i know who i payed, gawd, searchlight publishing!"

and ppl insist that nas won that one??? "NOOOO!"

  • wow this was a classic moment in hip hop i still listen to this song at least once a week.

  • Yo dudes, filter is similar to enveloping?

  • Classic...good lookin'!

  • mm, the technique used for the bass is pretty creative, I like.

  • @knEwzOne.. mUch lUv Bro kEep tHE Work up mane

  • so all he did is loop a sample and add drums? thats why dirty south is getting so hot, they producers actually compose music and know music theory.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @ItsJustHenry, wtf? listen to drumma boy, shawty redd, zaytoven, the runners, I could go on. Dirty south producers are real musicians. But these guys just loop a sample they like and add drums, yea it turns out hot but you cant compare the skill levels to the dirty south guys

  • They're all just synth sounds with a drum. They aren't good at all. The only good things to come from the south are Outkast, Luda and B.o.B.

  • @ItsJustHenry, the fact that you dont like synth sounds has nothing to do with the musicianship of the producers. plus who said its all synth sounds? dirty south producers are the most diverse. northern prodcuers usually stick to the common instruments (pianos, horns, guitars etc.) you see dirty south guys using alot of orchestral instruments, ethnic instruments and they create their own sounds with synths.

ofcourse both sides got good producers but when people talk down the DS, thats annoying

  • I'm not doubting the technical skill of it. I just think it all sounds bland and samey. It doesn't help that most of the people spitting on the track are shit. Saying DS has some of the most diverse producers is bullshit though. Go listen to Oh No or J Dilla.

  • @ItsJustHenry, I'm not talking about the technical side of it either (like knowing how to mix/master) I mean the creative musical side of it. And dude all your doing is throwing subjective preferences like their fact (ie. "most of the people spitting on the track are shit") thats just opinion, I personally think people like wayne are mad talented (wayne is 9th wonder's fav rapper now). And yes DS producers are diverse, they dont just take a sample they have to program their own sounds

  • Being creative is pretty subjective. Its about how you use whatb you've got. If you smaple something and flip it to make it sound completly different, thats pretty creative. You're talking down the use of sampling. I'm pretty sure most DS producers use sampling. Most hip-hop producers do. If you don't have live instruments and don't want some synthy sound, sampling is one of the few things you can do.

  • @ItsJustHenry, yea its subjective but it can me measured to some extent. I am not talking down sampling I do it myself and I know it can be done real well by producers like 9th.

  • Cont--- And you talk about Waye like he's just an average DS rapper. By there general lyrical standards he's near the top. When there are dozens of people in the east and west who could destroy him.

And I don't even like Skibeatz

  • @ItsJustHenry, Yea I know most dirty south rappers suck lyrically but honestly so do most rappers in general. At least dirty south rappers dont try to pretend their smart when their not like many northern rappers do. But whatever I'm not trying to discuss rappers just production.

  • @JahLoveOnline You probably think NY rappers try to act deeper than they are because your mind can't comprehend everything they are saying. You can't see beneath the surface, which also gos for 95% of people. People who are truly deep and intelligent have great respect for Jay-Z, NaS, and GZA because they take our thoughts and present them to the world eliquently and code them so slow people don't understand everything going on. Its magnificent. Real recognize real, thats why u cant see Jay.

  • @JahLoveOnline Wayne can be witty but he just doesnt spit that deep shit You have to understand ever sense I was a child ive noticed things about life most grown men can't comprehend. I see the world in a completely different way than you, and probably understand things naturally you could never learn

Rappers born with that mindstate were popular in NY in the 90s now the average shallow mans point of view is popular cause the masses are slow Thats why old NY rap is appreciated by intelligent ppl

  • @GimmeHipHop, wow that was vague, nothing to argue against that was just a bunch of BS

get real, don't give me a loose string of subjective opinions and actually make a point

  • @GimmeHipHop amen to that, my dude! i'm from s.cali, and with the exception of a few west coast artist i can name, i am almost exclusively drawn towards east coast Hip-Hop; and in particular, the variety that sprang from the early to mid 90's era! it was a special time, and suffice it to say, i'm glad i was there! peace!

  • that sample is fuckin crazy dats wat makes me like the beat even more

  • this is fucking beautiful

  • damn im cold goosebumps man classic

  • classic

  • can you elaborate on swing the beat in 16 triplets?

  • this makes love the song even more.

  • I appreciate the good comments for the real rap here but let me clarify something:

The "beat" is the drums and rhythm. Seems to be some confusion with what the "beat" is cause people are using it to talk bout the piano sample. If you talking about anything you can sing, you probably mean the melody/harmony.

Just some clarification from a fellow musician in the hip hop scene ;)

  • best beat ever!

  • i learned a shit load from ski when working with his ass my wife fucked every thing up

  • this is one of the best beats made

  • Is the swing scale a program?

  • no...its musicality

  • Swing scales are usually found in a beat making program.

  • OH! that kind of swing scale...oops

  • How did he said he captured the bass from the sample? With what kind of equipment? (I'm not english, so I didn't get that part) .Its about 2:52 to 3:12

  • He used a filter to cut off all high-pass frequency. What kind of equipment do you use? Most samplers have a really nice filter with which you can do exactly this with just turning a few knobs man.

  • oh ok, thanks man. I don't have my own shit right now but I my friends got MPC's and Turntable so I do my thing there.

  • ok he got the sample from Lonnie Liston Smith - Garden Of Peace

and he got nas sample from the song not the accapella cause with the acapella it has less bass he also sample the drums from the world is yours and another song

  • didn he say he sampled the drums from the remix of Oh My God by ATCQ and Busta Rhymes?

  • where did he say he sample it from again he sed his name but i couldnt hear... get back to me
