@anacrusism I disagree. I thought Shogun showcased some of the finest metal drumming in recent years. The flow of his fills and change of time signatures allowed for the evolution you've mentioned. I feel that he managed to keep a strong enough beat whilst syncopating enough to keep it interesting while not falling into prog or minimalism, but that's just me. Each to their own ;)
