In the actual Milne story, it is suggested that the explanation for the Pooh part of the bear's name is that he had an accident (being carried into the air by a balloon) that locked his arms in an upward position "for more than a week", and during that time period whenever he wanted to get rid of a fly that had settled on his nose he had to blow it away: "pooh, pooh, pooh...".
In real life, Milne's son Christopher had named the bear Pooh after a swan he had seen on holiday.
Amusing but so misinformed. Shows like this propagate ignorant notions and make the audience feel smug about not knowing better. I like Rich Hall but you have to take everything he says with a grain of salt.
@WalterLiddy The show isn't meant to be taken seriously, you think people form beauty and the beast inspired torch bearing mobs to destroy whatever goes in the room? It's only aim is to be amusing not to create real conclusions.
And yet, Rich Hall does not actually live in the UK. The simple truth of the matter is that it is much, much easier to earn a living doing stand-up comedy in the UK than it is in the US, and THAT is probably why he spends so much time over there. Any other lovely qualities it may have are incidental.
@SeventhEve I believe he actually splits his time between living in London and Montana and his wife in English. I also think he seems to enjoy the UK comedy environment more than the US comedy atmosphere, suits his style (nothing against out US friends i just think the UK humor suits his style better)
Or Montana (Montana sounds nice Weirfan)! Did you see that strange place (?Celebration).. Where, in nature, does it ever happen that manicured lawn and canal don't fight?
Most of Disney is ripped of novels changed so much they don't even sound the same. I read The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Mowgli lives with the wolves althrough it, and the pack leader is dying so the lower wolves want to kill to gain the role of leader, and want to kill Mowgli because he is a man, and couldn't before. The snake is actually a good guy in the book, helping when the monkeys kidnap Mowgli, because he is the only thing they are scared of.
I wish they talked about how most Disney classics are not made by Disney at all. They just took away all the important shit and stuck a lot of songs in it.
The people in charge of the disney town make the rest of America sound like a hellhole... I think they should get out of their town more-often and take a freaking look around, see what it's actually like.
Actually I am Canadian. I was just pointing out if the character were to be based on the original subject Winnie the Canadian black bear which was donated to the British zoo, by a Canadian soldier, then Winnie the Pooh would have a Canadian accent.
i don't know why people have rated you comment as bad... because you are right. the canadian who bought her (in Otario) named him after WInnipeg... i think it was because that is where he was from. Winnie was his units mascot in the war. then he ended up in britian in a zoo somewhere. after all that Chris Robin (the grandson of the author) called him Winnie-the-Poo
@TopGearFanForever, The bear got the name because Christopher Robin, VERY young at the time, approached his father and said, "We need a poo" as he was to shy to say it about just himself and the name stuck. (say it quickly). I delight in telling my Japanese students that story as they don't realise that poo = sh!te.
this could be true for the 'the poo' part of his name, but Winnie was a black bear cub whos mother was killed by potchers near the small Canadian town of White Hall. She was adopted by a man from Winnipeg (also Canada) she was the mascot for his unit in WWII after the war she was taken to live at the London Zoo, Chrisopher Robins fell in love with the bear and went to see her often, His father then wrote stories of their adventures togeather.
@TashkentFox it depends on were the canadian is from and were the american is from....... americans from the south dont sound like canadians except a couple from the country in alberta. people from newfoundland sound like no one else, and other than that, most people either sound the same, or sound like some other stereotype.
@Weirfan69 No. No you don't. You live in America, right? Please, for me and yourself, don't. This country's fucked, most of it's a baron, desolate, council-estated wasteland.
@Weirfan69 Mritsabeautifulfriday is right, stay the fuck away from the UK. Observe our lovely culture, but don't come here and have your dreams shattered. Tell you what, we'll all meet in Canada and smoke weed with the front door unlocked.
Now he has a young daughter I wonder if he lets her watch any Disney. (probably does unless he's a radically different parent)

The thing is what he's saying about Disney being satanic is true, there has always been a theme of evil sugar coated as good.
Disney's links with the illuminati, and disney's parentage is very strange. Don't allow your kids to watch any films by Disney!!
