Also, is there any programs, or websites you know that can tell you what the largest hd you can put in, at the moment I have a 320gb, but wanna update to a 500gb or 640gb or more even possible, but don't want to buy a hd and find out that my laptop won't read it as it's too large. Though, got to say, thank god, the hd is on the back, and not under the keyboard otherwise I wouldn't even attempt to change my hd.
Hi, I have a Sony VGN-FW48E, and I am in the process of upgrading my ram to 6gb and would like to upgrade my 320gb, as it's not enough for me, but not sure whaat the maxium I can upgrade to. I would like to get a 500gb, maybe 1tb if you can do that, but 500gb should be enough. I am woundering where is the hd is located at. At the back, I have two compartments, one I think is the ram, but not sure what the other one is. Can you help me out, like to know where the hd is, thanks.
@mumihp Did you opened the notebook? Take it close to your ear and turn it on. Might give you an ideia of where it is...!! Sorry buddy, but can't help you much further than that. Good Luck...!
@rdalben@rdalben Hey, found out the hd is the 2nd compartment on the back. The ist compartment is the ram which is easily removeable. Though, the hd, inside has 3 screws tied to the laptop, 1st screw easily removable, but the 2nd and 3rd screws don't come out easily, I unscrewed them, but the hd isn't coming out, do you have to force it out, gently. All I wanna know what type of hd is is so I can buy a larger one online. Do you know how to find out what your hd is, like type and name? Thanks
Brother can you show me or help me how to open up a sony vaio NW series? Its been 2 years almost and I think my fan for my laptop is dirty so I want to clean it. As you can tell, I love my vaio and dont want to open it up with out knowing how to.
@bdy2kbd I used to have this unit. What's the model (NW....) ? I opened an older Vaio to try to clean the FAN and I was unsuccessful ..!! Let's see if I can hel you.

Thank you. I have opened the Sony SZ433N with this method (didn't take out the keyboard though) but able to replace the hard drive.
