  • STAND ASIDE! Always lol.

  • Oh, I truly like Mr. Rochester in this adaption! So .. grumpy :)

  • @FairySugarplum he's just as I pictured him in the book.

  • @ALDERMANOFFOUNTALL I think, like most of us, she longs for love which makes everything in life brighter. And, as she says, she couldn't help it . . . the restlessness is in her nature. She wasn't complete yet, and until you are, you know you're ladking something but until you're fulfilled, many can't put a name to what it is they are lacking.

  • mrs pool is very manly

  • oh god sthis the guy in this version is soo hot and the girl so ugly lucky bitch

  • @Afsoon2009 She grows on you . . . ;-)

  • @Afsoon2009 I find Zelah very cute.

  • don't have a crutch with ya'? use a short person who happens to be there

  • @loyalfalconflutist Your comment reminds me of how my friends like to use me as an armrest.

  • @Eekazoid lol same thing with me and my friends. :3

  • im in chapter 21 in the book right now and i cant figure out what the hell Grace Poole is...UGHHHHHH

  • arghs!!! they cut out so much of the dialogue with Rochester and Jane outside!! it took me an hour and a half just to get to Timothy Dalton, don't you think you could have given me a little bit more!!! :)

  • Oh God...If all men are as "ugly" as Mr.Rochester...TAKE ME THERE lol. Still, the 2006 version is perfecton :P

  • The most accurate, well played Mr. Rochester was done by Orson Welles. Timothy Dalton is sexy second.

  • >:O GRRR he wasn't so mean and gruff to Jane in the book. -.-' why can't ppl who write scripts EVER stay true to the real story!

  • As much as i love this movie, he sounds more Irish then British X3

  • Timothy Dalton is very handsome and dashing

  • Isn't Mr. Rochester supposed to be an unattractive man? ; )

  • why did they cut some parts in their dialogue? i love their first interaction, as it is in the book u.u ...he is way too handsome to be mr Rochester ñ´ñ

  • So far Dalton is good.. but he's got a long way to go to beat Toby!!

  • i thought rochester was supposed to be ugly >:)

  • @xoxoMEEPoxox yeah lol but it's better like that (for us)

  • @oranaise311318 yes i suppose so haha ;)

  • I wish I had the music to this as an mp3.

  • OMG! I love this! It is the best love story ever! THANKS SO MUCH for putting this up

  • MY #2 favorite movie!!! Awesome! Love Timothy Dalton and HIS BEWITCHED HORSE!

  • STAND ASIDE! xD

  • Actually while I adore this version, a lot of people forget the 1944 version with the immortal Orson Welles as Mr Rochester. After Timothy, he would rank my second favourite. :)

  • damn.. timothy dalton is so damn sexy..

  • Mr. Rochester is yummmyyyy. :D

  • @TheWhiteFluffyBunny :Yeah, that's weird, Rochester has been yummy in every version and he's supposed to be ugly.. Every Jane has been way too pretty too!

  • OMG!! Hottie alert!! LOL. Mr.Rochester is handsome.

  • Tim is the best Rochester...Just like the one in the book..

  • hes not half bad. but i sorta wish the jane was the one in 1996. charlotte something.

  • I suspect it comes down to no more, perhaps, than a matter of ones age. I`m old enough to remember this when it was first broadcast on the BBC in the very early 1980`s.

I sat watching it in a grand old house, with an old friend, Sunday after Sunday evening. Drinking Port, and eating ham, watching this very same Jane Eyre.

    It was enchanting.

  • @minielephant123 charlotte gainsborough!!! yes! shes the best :)

  • Darn that laugh scares the crap out of me. It's around 2am and am wearing headphones...

  • bloody hell thats a perfect horrorsetting > surround/stereo sound?

  • @annzkipots lol same here

  • she is the best jane eyre, but ciaran is the best Rochester...

I think it is so cool how pilot gets to go everywhere with R, even when he rides...my dog would love that. It was a better world for dogs then... :)

  • I think he's just right. Grim looking, but also quite handsom. He is exactly what I imagined Rochester to look like.

  • He is suposed to be ugly!

  • Grim looking, not ugly.

  • The both are supposed to be ugly!

  • true. But in my opinion Toby Stephens in better looking.

  • I agree... the version of jane eyre with toby stephens and ruth wilson is the best version!!!!

  • i can't agree with u. In my opinion, this version is the best.she is the best jane eyre, and he is the best Rochester

  • creo que oque no me gusta de esta jane es que se ve demasiado saludable para representar a una chica que estuvo mal nutrida tanto de comida como de afecto. la version con william hurt es mas apegada a la realidad.

  • I think it's a bit weird, that after she met Mr. Rochester in the lane and she found Pilot when she'd come back to Thornfield, she just recognized it (Pilot), but then felt confused about the master coming home.

  • James Bond.. xP

  • what's with her weird hairstyle? she should change it.

  • oh it's a hot James Bond on a horse

  • Seriously, you are all wrong, Ciaran Hinds was the most amazing Mr. Rochester ever done, he gave it so much justice with what he had to work with.

  • I have no idea why nobody mentions William Hurt. I know he's not "dashing" or handsome in an obvious manner (which is a plus), but he was a great Rochester. Perfect acting combined with an incredible voice. Though I've yet to finish this version and I've got a soft spot for a (admittedly modern) Stephens', I consider Hurt's to be THE classic one.

  • where is hurt's version? is it uploaded? I think he should make a very very good Rochester, n his looks suit the book

  • Just type "Eyre 1996" and you'll find it.

  • Found it - thank you! And Dalton is better looking than Tobey, IMHO, but I like Stephens portrayal best - it's the script's fault if you found him too 'modern'

  • You're welcome. IMHO Toby is better looking :-) And I never said I found him (or rather his version) too modern. Just modern. And yes, it's because of the script, which I still think is a very nice piece of work :-)

  • Dalton is friggin smexy as Rochester :O

  • I'm sorry but I like Timothy Dalton a lot better as Rochester. Toby Stephens was way to flirty and I like Timothy Dalton's voice better. Plus I think Toby Stephens is is way too handsome.

  • why are people arguing about toby vs timothy?

Lets argue about pilot. I like the 1983 version of pilot, he's fluffier. The 2006 one didn't go for me.

  • ROFL

  • woah! this rochester is sexy

  • @pissedatyou2

    oh yes he is! ;)

  • Oh, Timothy Dalton! I was totally in love with this guy when i was 12 years old ;-)

  • when they meet augh awfull what the heck have to be repuslsive to him and really scary to her i hate it

  • Who know - what is music here?

  • I can't decide which Mr. Rochester I like best, Timothy Dalton or Toby Stephens. They're both amazing actors and super sexy, but whenever i read the book i picture Timothy as Rochester.

He also makes a very hot James Bond :D

  • i totally agree!

Very sexy guy and perfect for both roles x

  • Oh please Stephens didn't do it for me as Edward, he wasn't tall enough, old enough, unattractive enough and this one is important, the voice, a voice like Dalton is very suitable for Edward Rochester.

  • i like toby better , but it's only my opinion ;)

  • i totally agree! Although timothy dalton is handsome.........there is just something about toby stephens that sets my hearts on fire! In my eyes, Toby is a perfect mr. Rochester!

  • Haha. I fell in love with Toby as Mr. Rochester :D.

And also, while reading the book i had seen the 2006 series first, so i could imagine while reading . :3

  • @shelbieface i picture Mr. rochester a stern looking man so i picture Toby stephens. Timothy seems too soft.

  • @Rosamorrable I agree with you, Timothy is very good looking, but I preffer the gorgeous Toby Stephens in this roll, he has such a stern looking that you want to eat him alive, ha ha

  • @shelbieface

    Timoty Dalton is the best!

He cracks me up almost every time he opens his mouth and in every close up.

He is so much THE Mr Rochester, gruff, brooding and mysterious. He often looks at Jane like a very hungry man looking at a pie and I would not trust him for anything :-)

Would you buy a second hand car from that man???

  • @shelbieface Ah, imo Timothy Dalton beats anyone and anything, both as Rochester and Heathcliff (never mind the WH-version is a little skewed). And he's the hottest Bond as well. Great talent in that man, and the way he looks... perfectly fits such a haunted character.

  • @shelbieface I agree with you about Dalton, I also loved Orsen Wells as Rochester too, as for James Bond, never loved him, always lothed him.

  • @orlandobabe yeah wells was perfect!!!!!

  • @shelbieface he was also a pretty good Rhett Butler in the scarlett series ;D, although, the story line was kinda....boring.

  • Ooohhh, Timothy's accent makes me shiver! God, I love him!

  • Does anyone know what accent it's meant to be?

  • I love the music to this movie.

  • me 2! x

  • hmm i like TDs accent... its awesome.. it sound italianno perfectto... lol it owns... W00T lol

  • That lady's scary...I seriously hated his first wife: completely wacked...

  • You should read Wide Sargasso Sea... It will completely change your opinion of Rochester's first wife.

PS. Timothy Dalton is definitely the best Rochester. That accent. O.M.W.

  • @rchkane Keep in mind that "Wide Sargasso Sea" isn't cannon Jane Eyre, but a seperate entity from the original story and characters- including Bertha Rochester.

  • "An intelligent deduction Miss Eyre".....Mr. Sarcastic.....but I don't care I like him.

  • Pity that grace poole's presence and the laughter didn't occur simultaneously, not even once, before the truth was revealed after the marriage attempt. That would have saved many misunderstandings for Jane...

  • His voice sounds dark and has a growl, but is also smooth and even seductive. I could listen to his voice everyday.

  • That crazy lady's diabolical laughter is going to give me nightmares tonight...

  • whoops i meant 118 to 148

  • lol at 1:50/1:53 "this'11 cure it, Miss!"

  • Mr. Rochester is soooo COOL! Timothy Dalton does a fantastic job!

  • Jane is perfect in this version.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • I love the way TD has a bit of a growl in his voice...like there is a beast within only looking to be tamed.

I did appreciate this first encounter more in the 2006 version because there was almost an instant connection. I am loving this version so far though because of its adherence to the book.

  • i definitley have a major crush on timothy dalton

  • I watched this version and loved it ! I craved for more Mr Rochester so I read the novel. Oh, the story was so beautiful. I got hooked. I love when he called her Janet. Timothy Dalton is the best Mr Rochester.

  • like the way he says 'ah yes the governess' with such contempt/disgust - like yeh, its alwayd the governesses fault.

  • i also love his voice and also - he is definitely too good looking for rochester.

  • i love timothy dalton! id like to see an adaptaion one day with ralph fiennes as rochester

  • Yay! Now the sparkage begins!

  • when I first saw TD as Mr. R many years ago I thought he was miscast--too good looking for the part, but I quickly got over it:)

  • Lol the way he says "excuse me" and "thank you" is so rude and gruff...I love Mr. Rochester though.

  • here comes the hero!!!!!

    yeah! I love his voice

  • I thought it was only movie clips, but it's the WHOLE movie? I'm so excited, I think I'll pause it and go pop me some popcorn! Be right back..............!

  • Thank you thank you thank you :D Been looking forward to this version for a while.

    *sigh*

  • You are welcome! Hope you like this version as much as I did!
