That looks like Billy May (composer of the 1966 Green Hornet music--1967 Batgirl theme and background music from Adam West Batman, etc.) playing the trumpet solo at 1:46.
It's interesting to see how things have changed, I'm a fan of all kinds of genre, and unlike today, the musicians/singers etc, are actually enjoying themselves. Nowadays it seems they are just going to through the motions to collect a cheque
@Elwoodblues87 Yes that is so very true as the artists do look like they are truly enjoying themselves. I still see this when I go to oldies rock concerts. Music comes from the heart.
@Elwoodblues87 Not all of them. If you've ever seen Dave Grohl playing live with the Foo Fighters you'd have no doubt that there is a man enjoying his work

I wish more swing dancers would watch this video and pick up on the bouncy feel. It's called jitterbug for a reason. We all need to loosen up and get into the soul of the music more.
Simplesmente a música na sua plenitude..não essas merdas que ouvimos hoje, onde não se precisa mais ser músico para fazer música....Que merda precisamos voltar no tempo.
@lolnostanku think they practiced it quite a bit......looked like Miller was busting Payne's chops during this clip because obviously Payne isn't a player....it was just for the film....Miller did have a piano player called Chummy McGregor though.
@lolnostanku didn't you post that you thought the trombonists would smack one another? hence, my comment that they "practiced it quite a bit"; there's a bit when Miller catches Payne's eye and slides toward him, with Payne smiling ("busting his chops")...does that help?
I love the St. Louis March. And I'm excited to see Miller and his band in the 2 movies they played in. Hearing the recordings is one thing, but to see them is another!

Love it! Quality is marvelous unlike most of the crappy versions of this scene on YT. Thanks for sharing.

If i lived back then, I'd want Sonja Hennie to throw herself at me like she did to john Payne.

The wonderful music of the original Glenn Miller Orchestra played in beautiful Art Deco surroundings. Who could ever ask for anything more?

It took me a while to realize that not only was the piano playing faked, but there's no piano in the original song in the first place. XD
It's a cheesy but good movie. It's worth seeing just for the music clips.

It's classic. The great moment of Swing. Benny, Glenn, Count, Cab and many others made history in 30s and 40s. Marvelous.
