Absolutely flawless and with such stage appeal and musicianship! She was delightful, and still is. I first heard her play Voliere when she recorded it at the request of Leonard Bernstein in 1961 on an album of Saint-Saenz's Carnival of the Animals.
@emquandra yep it does! i can pla flight of the bumblebee withouth a mistake and i'm no pro! now this is hard! i can play this voliere piece but nowhere near that fast. i can take it at 80 doubletounguing! i got lost of work to do! but i'll never ever be as good as her!
the way she plays this piece is absolutely amazing! she makes it seem so easy! im working on this piece right now and trust me.. its not. lol. BRAVO! =]
Absolute amazing!!! As you can see, it's ok to use some alternate fingerings. From the video you can see she plays the trill fingering for the high E-F and later she doesn't lift her left pinky for the middle C-D passage. So do I and anyone who is after a clean performance at this tempo, in pitch and so musical. BRAVISSIMA!!!
She is absolutely amazing!! She does use the trill fingering for high E-F and she doesn't lift her left index for the fast middle c-d passage. That is all I can tell from the video. But so do I and everyone else who is after a clean performance at this speed. Yet it is very clean, in pitch and complete acceptable. BRAVISSIMA!
This is an absolutely incredible clip: Speed, accuracy, and elegance all in one! This is a great reference for flutists all over the world. Thanks for posting!
I... will never be that good ._.
I CANNOT tongue the notes that fast....

Love her playing, but I hate that hall she's playing in! There's, like, no resonance. :(
But I soooo wish I could play like her. She's brilliant.

triple-tonguing is crazy
shes got great skill in that
i love triple tonguing
kirasheart69 2 years ago
Do you mean double tonguing? This piece is double tongued, there aren't any figures in the excerpt that require the use of triple tonguing...
azndavid6491 2 years ago
@azndavid6491
Actually, there ARE some triple-tongued 16th note triplets in it. Check the lick again!
talon1812 1 year ago
@azndavid6491 i think triple tounge would be confusing in this piece because triple tounge invloves triplets-

@kirasheart69 all double.
dasteufelhund 1 year ago
@kirasheart69 i can double up to 160 but sixteen notes. i am in the process of learning tripletounguing! but this piece was fenomenal!

she makes it sound so effortless! when it's probably the hardest song around
stuipdthing 2 years ago
Yeah, definitely beats Flight of the Bumblebee, despite popular belief.
I've played both, and this one is WAY harder.
