  • My dirty ass camera salutes you

  • صوتك حلو !!

  • Thanks For The TIPS.

  • i forgot my lens cloth, i used my t shirt am i screwed?

  • @BerkeleyBuilt your not screwed but your camera is

  • thnx now my camera is as good as new haha (only with some holes because I dropped it a few times, is there a fix for it XD).

  • God I hate cleaning my lenses. I had to clean my sigma 70-200 2.8 once because my 3 year old brother touched the front element. I used lens cleaning materials such as a cloth and lens fluid but the the fluid on the lens made the reflections of light off the glass change colors and from green to purple and the cleaning cloth flaked off a bit leaving little white fibers that looked to me like scratches. Not to mention how every second a new peice of dust landed on the glass. Just get a filter.

  • I feel neurotic. Hahaha

  • Ok so i used a wet wipe type thing that supposedley wasnt going to leave any residue.. guess what? it left tiny hair looking things on the lens -.- they wont blow off or wipe off and im worried that it might break my camera if they stay there. So far the picture quailty hasnt changed much but it is starting to focus weirdly. Don't really have money to buy anything... any suggestions on what to do?

  • @IamNoble7 Use a lenspen. After buying one, I've never gone back to microfiber cloths.

  • can you use like, eyeglasses cloths? or is there something different with that?

  • sounds like 'so long goodbye' by sum 41 as the backing track :P

  • 1: get a camera

    2: get a cloth

    3: wipe the lens

    4: ?????

    5: Profit!

  • @Shaykherr regardless, you shouldn't blow on a lens because moisture condenses on the glass element. Moisture and lenses are a bad combination because it can provide the conditions for fungus to grow on the glass. I don't know if you have ever seen a bad fungus infestation on a lens, but it's a sorry sight. Much better to use proper lens fluid which evaporates quickly without leaving moisture.

  • @Shaykherr yes, we have immunity to stop them multiplying, the glass on the lens doesn't. It is smaller than the eye can see at first, but left to multiply.... well, we know how this story ends.

  • Is it just me or did the narrator in the video sound JUST like the Announcer in Portal 2? :D

  • I find that just an ordinary dry lens tissue can be good enough in most cases.

  • con chi sei non importa, cosa fai non importa..ciò che conta è se sei in pericolo... sono Flash-Hero...la criminalià e una vecchia nemica...

  • 8 hour exposure?!! he should be the most patient man in the world...i shit myself after a two second shutter lag..

  • @shobin05 HAHAHAHAH

  • could we use a paint brush that hasnt been used?

  • 7 people can't clean theire camera...

  • no. i did not know that

    thank you howcast

  • lol ear syringe

  • some spit and a t-shirt works just as good too

  • what about windex with a paper towel? seems to work just fine

  • @BreakingBX Your camera lens will bet so messed up in a few years

  • 8 hrs exposure lol....

  • the video was worth watching just because of the interesting fact at the end. thanks!

  • what about windex?

  • @SoftyChicken I wouldn't suggest it.

  • @burningface Everyone full shit here, most lens have there coating on inside there no way you can damage lens using rubbing alcohol. Also lens groups are seal system. Breathing on it not going to harm it anyway, even running your finger over glass not going to hurt it. Simple paper tissue and water will clean it. Camera lens are rock solid, they can take abuse. Old or New glass it work same way. 20 years of doing this and lens look perfect.

  • @starfoxacefox I think, based on the comments, more people tend to agree with me. But hey, if you've had success for "20 years" you must have the lucky touch. Or the cleanest mouth. What kind of lenses do you use that can sustain so much abuse? The bottom of coke bottles?

  • @burningface Luck? Let think about this. No main stream company will put out something that can break from touch of someone hand. I've only broke one lens in my life Canon FD 24mm f/2.8, I drop it. All lens I've owned have been Canon brand and few Sony. Canon FD: 28mm f/2.8 80mm f/1.8 25-70mm f/4 70-210mm f/4 85-300mm F/4.5 100-300mm f/5.6 400mm f/4.5 500mm f/8.0 Canon EF: 28–80 mm II f/3.5-5.6 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 USM IS EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Foxler of Furry Fandom
  • thanks :)

  • @burningface sure, i use to do that and in all my photos i could clearly see the bacteria having fun on the lens

  • As mentioned time and time again in comments, one should NEVER breathe on the lens.

  • NEVER EVER breath on the lens to clean or other purposes. It could seap in to the inner lens and permenently damage it with moister

  • Some good tips thanks yo for posting

  • I have to keep it clean! . . . . thats what she said :S

  • how about a Cat hair?

  • this is a good video also you can buy a lens filter

  • This is so useful.

  • My camera broke :[[[

  • Get a life. Thank you.

  • where am i gonna get camel hair ?!

  • get a camel and shave it :))

  • Shave a camel.

  • this video is probably for people who take photographs for a living

  • i want a camera..

  • thanks

  • if i could suck any dick it'd be Howcast's!

  • These helpful tips are ballin' as fuck.

  • you guys are not funny anymore!

  • was cleaning camera lens suppose to be funny? :S

  • They weren't supposed to be funny, retard.

  • Also, use forced air whenever possible (canned air), instead of brushes and cloths.

  • i have a can of air and it says do not use on camera mirrors or lenses.i never cleaned my camera had it for a year.i guess i don't want it to get sratched.but i do have an old digital from 5 years ago and all the sudden it said lense error.this happened when i was at the beach a year ago.tried using can of air nothign helped.

  • Always buy a clear filter to put over the front of your lens, this will save you from having to clean the actual lens. Much easier to swallow the cost of a $10 filter vs. a $300 lens...

For the camera-facing part of the lens, minimize exposure to anything but the camera or a dust cap.

  • wtf?

  • 5th guy who gave ya a thumb down.
