I've learned that it is likely no one will understand, and it is likely no one could understand the difficulties, by you can find reason to live, even if you have to be alone forever. It is good that you caught it an an early age, you have the chance to teach your son the things which have taken me decades to find out that I couldn't do. I wish you and your son the best of luck my friend.
My now 18 yr old son was diagnosed with ASD at age 6
He also had a fascination with cars & train he would line them up he would also know if one had been moved in any way.
He is still a loner
His latest is passion is car games on ps3 where he will interact with others online I have found that this has helped him to socialise with ppl where he wouldnt before
Slowly but surely over the last 2 yrs his temper outbursts has lessened and he is learning to vent his anger in other ways
Great video. I hope schools will be more open to ASD awareness in the future. They don't seem to be willing to hear what they need to, in order to reach and teach our precious children. My son was also bullied. The public school expelled him for being the victim of constant bullying. He yelled "no!" and they kicked him out of school. :( He had so much anxiety and frustration and guilt, he had pulled out all his eyelashes and wanted to die. He is now in a private school, and is very happy.
My child has AS and I would love it if I go in and talk to his class about it. The school doesn't really want anyone to know he's differnt. I think this would help cut down the bullying for kids like ours.
Thank you for sharing this ! And greetings to all those parents who are doing a great job ! And a kiss to our children who are the best teachers that exist...
GREAT video!!! I am going to show this to my 10 yr old son with ASD. Is your son mainstreamed? My son is with OT (Sensory issues), speech for pragmatics, ESE for Math.
We moved 7 months ago to a new state. My girls have a lot of friends and playdates, but my son still does not have any friends. Its really hard on him.
@sybeve yes i am in the uk i did not find out til i was 43 but the doctors over here wernt much help just gave me more pills for the mood problems i have....jeff...
My school for special needs students called Madonna School. I bet someone has Aspergers in my school have to. I have Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy on my right side & I am 16.
That song sums up exactly how I fell with my aspy son who is 7! some days a really hard but he is so special to me . Thanks for the encouragement to show hime how I feel :)jarrid you are so lucky to have a mum who understands you.
I feel that u are just like my Mother a True Angel and ur son IS VERY LUCKY to have a Parent like u and u keep standing by ur son and jarrid when ever u have a issue just try not to keep it inside that is my advice to u as a fellow Aspy
I wish my parents had been understanding like you. I didn't have parents though... I had abusers. My only wish is that other people won't treat their kids the way my parents did... and still do. Normal, AS, ADD, whatever, every child needs parents who value them as little people, not possessions.
Its ridiculous why people think people with aspergers have hard lives and are constantly struggling with their aspergers. I have high functioning autism and my lifes brilliant. It became much better after I got diagnosed though cuz now I just relax and dont give a shit if I act like a lunatic in social and formal situations because I have an excuse now to act like a lunatic haha.
though i disagree with you bieng ass and using it as an excuse i do agree with you on the struggling part, an autistic kid is actually more likely to get a decent job, because they actually fucking try to.
Crackbadger... If one of the main things you ever try to concentrate on before you act out is, "how is my actions going to affect the others around me?" and "will it hurt them?" If you are so high functioning, you can still learn some self control, and learn to cope without acting like a lunatic!
I don't think it gives you an excuse to act like a lunatic. Just because you have a hard time understanding things, and hard time with social skills is no reason to throw aside any morals, one of the main ones is treating people how you want to be treated back"
Way to go!!!! I have an 11 Y/O son with Aspergers. He has had some tough times at school mostly with controlling his emotions. But, we are fortunate in the schools. In middle school his homeroom is dedicated to Aspies. When I showed him a list of famous people with Aspergers he lit up like a Christmas tree. I totally agree with another writer here: "This is not a disability. They just stand out". They tend to be very bright. Once again, well done and thank you.
Your videos are beautiful. I too have a nine year old with AS. I understand the love you feel for your son. I wouldn't change who my son is for anything. I just wish other people could see how wonderful he is.
im a mother to callum hes 9 and was diagnosed with aspergers age 7 although i knew from a very early age,im in tears watching your tributes to your son,its good to know im not alone with the daily struggles, callum loves flight, planes, jet engines,he has posted a vid on here cool airplanes by callum.hes constantly checking the views lol, loves trains, building things, tornados, fans, anything that spins!some days it can be hard for him and me,hes the love of my life, thank you for posting your video
I just cried when I watched this moving tribute, truth and understanding love only we know who live every minute with these amazing, complicated, compassionate, indifferent, blessed little souls, i know all I have to offer is my love and the struggle I have with guilt over not being there enough, helping protecting is gut wrenching. I live with adult aspergers with a child my son Ryan diagnosed at 5 with are united but not understood and live with people who don't see us. I cried because u do!
If he has Asperger's Syndrome then I am assuming that he has an all-absorbing interest. If so what is it; dinosaurs, trains and railroads? Does he also have the habit of doing things like lining up his toys or collecting a particular type of object?
He likes Sharks. AND he is also quit the little artist. He collects diecast cars...he also like to take thing apart and see how they work and then put them back together. He does line his toys up...especially the cars
Also dinosaurs, trains and railroads are not the only intrests an Aspie (person with Aspergers) can have. It can be anything! I'm an Aspie and some of my interests are Wolves, Harry Potter and Anime.

No one at my school knows what asperger syndrome is. If they did the people who treat me like a freak would soon understand that I can't help it.

Kids with Asperger does not have a disability.
They simply stand out.
So its actually no worry for parents if their kids have it.
As long as they learn the children to have Empathy then it should be totally okay.
