He was a complex man who was fucked up from his parents. There's so many different factors to why he neglected Julian and Cynthia. I think it's wrong how he did that, but you make it sound like he was just an arrogant asshole - which he was not.

It's an alt take, yes. I think it's on the reissued (expanded) CD release of the album. I like it but it hasn't quite got the swing and feel of the take which was on the vinyl album. It's still pretty damn fine!
