They were planning on making a fifth installment to this called Batman Triumphant. It had to do with the Scarecrow (which was to be played by Keanu Reeves), giving Batman visions of The Joker with his fear toxin and Harley Quinn (which would be The Joker's daughter) out to get revenge on Batman for killing her father. But naturally they canceled this after the failure to Batman & Robin.

I hate how everyone bashes Clooney's batman. He portrayed batman with the wrong director and movie plot. Really Clooney did a great job at playing Bruce Wayne and would have been a great batman with another director. The 60s TV series BTW went more towards the comic ( although hokey in its time ) but i rather watch that than some hack kill the franchise to cut corners and figure "gee comic book fans wont notice"..thats why this movie BOMBED... cant use well known actors and figure it'll sell the franchise. The plots in pts 1 & 2 ( along with the great casting ) sold the original films.. and didnt shy away from the darkness which made the character. They lightened up the movie after part 2 and made it hokey

well to comment what others say below... they hate this movie because they obviously added Clooney in the film ( along with Schwarzenegger and Thurman ) in order to sell the movie but the plot was thin and stupid. BTW Robin wasn't in his 20's in the series he was younger so they screwed that up along with making Alicia Silverstone Alfred's niece HAVE YOU SEEN THE COMIC? Barbara Gordon aka batgirl was the police commish's Niece not alfred. Cut corners to make a movie then don't bother filming it

I paid to see this in theaters when i was 16 and regretted it and i do own the 1989 to 1997 anthology Blu-Ray set with all the extras and this movie is good for a laugh and to mock, the commentary by Schumacher is priceless and the extras are better than the film itself and i like how Schumacher apologized for making the film. Thank god for Nolan.
