Whenever I've seen magic, everyone I've been with has done the same thing - we are always checking out how the magician moves, how he holds his hands and where he puts them. There is no way on earth that a magician could get away with a trick that requires the audience not checking out those coins tucked behind the front one.

You are misunderstanding me. I was talking about this specific trick where you have to hold the coins in an unnatural way for the coins behind not to be seen. Audiences now are a lot less forgiving, and magicians need to be better at palming and misdirection. This is a trick you couldn't do with the audience sitting around you, or even at different heights to one another.

you misunderstand me your suppose to use techniques like palming wich hide the fact that your holding coins and this is an old established trick that has been around for ages, most magicians cater to crowds ranging from ages 8-15 so your being biased. magicians dont have to encase themself in ice for 500 hours or pull flaming swords out of thier buts to be established, small magic tricks are where its at and where most start. most tricks are not made for large audiences that are slight of hands.
