  • That sounds so cool jazz on harpsichord.

  • What a delightful recording. I love Sylvia, I always feel she doesn't get enough credit these days. This is a pretty fierce recording. Always great to hear my beloved pleyel tackling some boogie woogie!

  • @chriswales19 Yeah, she certainly was a very unconventional woman. Wonder if the Pleyel sprung a couple of wires in the process : )

Now, does that mean we have to rephrase the famous Sir Thomas Beecham quote?

    ; )

  • @sanfranphono Sir Thomas got it spot on, and its a sound I adore, and its something I'd quite like to see!! Do you have any other early hpschd recordings? I'm quite the fan of Marlowe, Landowska, Alghrim and the rest, in fact I play pretty much exclusively on these older "revival" instruments.

  • @chriswales19 Yeah, the x-rated version of the Adventures of Sindbad.

Where is Ray Harryhausen when we need him.

Come across harpsi on 78s once in a while, I personally prefer the Copenhagen early music scene from the late 40s (Morgens Woeldike etc.) even though the probably used Neuperts (yech!)

They did really sleek modern stuff

  • @sanfranphono I adore Neuperts, The 'Bach' model in particular. There is a video on here of me bashing out some Ligeti on one, pure joy! I own a delightful Eric Herz harpsichord (here in S.F) which has a very powerful 16' !
