Today all the advertised rates are asterisked.. so $99 is really something like $130. PLUS - everything costs money, bags, meals, etc. You're lucky you can take a piss for free on some airlines.
The glory days of commercial airlines in the US are loooong gone. =(
Ryanair in Ireland charge £1 to use the toilets, and they're thinking of 'standing' seats to get more on their planes. And they say like £5.99 to Malaga but then you excess charges of £239! Why can't things be like they were?! :(
not quite. prices for most things have increased about 2% a year since then. 20 years later...that 99 bucks would be about 150 today. but yes with all the fees now it seems like more than it really is.
