  • @Alwaysacharm54 Indeed it is! Thank you so much for commenting!

  • *Wild applause* Positively stunning!!!!! Marvelous job!! There's not much left to say that hasn't been said so well by everyone else. I LOVE it!!!!! :)))

  • @TheSorrowfulFlower Thank you so, so, so much!!! I greatly appreciate it. :)

  • Just Wonderful, Classic Damsel! I can see why her voice was chosen to bring class and beauty to those films. I am surprised that she did not achieve Star status in her own right. You have helped to bring awareness to her contributions with this beautiful video! Thank You so much for that!

  • @nipstertunes Thank you, Jim! Yes, she brought so much to those movies and yet was so taken for granted. You're very welcome! Thank you so much for your lovely comment!

  • BRAVO Ms. CD…You have certainly done your homework and put together a wonderful tribute to one of Hollywood’s most unheralded ladies of the musical film era. Two mega-stars, Natalie Wood and Audrey Hepburn, were unaware that Marni’s voice, and not their own voices, would be used in “West Side Story” and “My Fair Lady” until late in the production of these films. They were not happy to say the least.

  • @SneakyGuy55 Thank you SO much!!! I am honored by your words and am happy to hear that my efforts were not in vain. Yes, I was just reading about that! I knew that Audrey Hepburn had thought she would be singing for "My Fair Lady" and might not have done the film if she had known she would be dubbed, but I did not know Natalie Wood also had a similar experience.

  • @ClassicDamsel You're welcome. You "do good work," as they say. :-) You are educating people about Marni Nixon, a person unknown to most people even those who are fans of films like "West Side Story" and "My Fair Lady." Here are two videos showing Natalie singing in WSS outtakes (use Google)... watch?v=jHsLOJ35-0c and watch?v=G9J5hSxC4Y8 Natalie could sing but she was no Marni Nixon. Nobody was.

  • They fully expected that their voices would be used in the films but their contracts allowed the film producers the final say on what voices would be used. The producers chose Marni. It’s easy to “hear” why. Again, great work Ms. Classic Damsel.

  • A little quiz for you Ms. CD…In 1953 Marni dubbed just a few notes for a very famous female movie star. This movie star died tragically at a very young age in 1962. She was known to have done all of the singing in her films but in one film she was unable to hit some high notes and Marni was brought in to sing those notes. So who was this famous star? What was the film? And lastly, what was the song that Marni dubbed? My friend Mr. Google will be glad to help you I’m sure.

  • @SneakyGuy55 I am unable to come up with the answers to your quiz! Who was it???

  • @ClassicDamsel It was Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn sang all of her songs in her films save for one, “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the 1953 film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” Marni Nixon did some of the high notes for MM in that song.

  • @SneakyGuy55 Ah! Okay. I will have to listen for those notes!

  • Wow, she has a beautiful voice and that of which I recognize so well! I just wasn't, as you said aware that it was her singing for other actresses! I especially liked the, "I feel Pretty". I think it's amazing how she can change the range of her voice too! Thank you so much for posting this, I love it!

  • @bubbbb0 You're very welcome! Her range was absolutely incredible and her voice is definitely one of my favorite voices of all time. Thank you so much for commenting!

  • A magnificent tribute to a magnificent voice! You certainly have provided us with an ample sampling of this versatile woman's singing in so many varied roles! Together with your excellent choice of photos, and your informative description, you have indeed given proper recognition to a truly deserving Hollywood star! Thank you so very much for devoting your talents to making sure that Ms. Nixon does receive a bit more of the credit she deserves!

  • @azw596 Oh, thank you ever so much!!! I really appreciate (not to mention I'm honored!) by your words! You're welcome and thanks for commenting!
